Being new around here, I'd assume that this has come up, but I haven't seen it so I thought I'd ask. I owe my first Carcassonne experience to the American version of the TV show, The Office. Several people in our family are fans of that show and my brother-in-law was looking on the profile page of one the actresses (the girl who plays Pam). She said on her profile that she likes to play Carcassonne. He looked up the game to see what it was and later recommended it for a birthday present for this wife's brother. Their family started playing the game and then they brought it over to our house. I really started enjoying it when I began playing online (at AsoBrain) and discovered all the available expansions.

In a desperate bid to find a Christmas gift for someone, I searched far and wide for something unusual and read a review about Carc, got one for them - I don't think they've played it yet - and ourselves, which started the ball rolling

I was browsing Amazon, looking for a game that we could play at Christmas as a family. I was reading about another totally different item, when I saw Carcassonne in the 'Other people purchased' section. I read the reviews and purchased a copy. This was my first expierience at Euro-gaming

I use to play wargames with a friend back in Nova Scotia. He introduced me to Carcassonne. He really is the one who started the ball rolling on my active gaming hobby pursuits. Ahhh, good memories.

When my sister and I were kids, we usually received the "Game of the Year" for Christmas (board games were always our favorite pasttime for holidays and many other occasions). Even though we're both grown up now, my mother still buys the occasional game for us (which we appreciate very much!), and in 2001 I got Carcassonne which has remained a favorite ever since.

A friend of mine worked in a board game shop at the time when Carcassone was released and he bought it. He, his brother and I played it a lot for about a year. For some reason we shelved it, I can't remember why I didn't play it again until this christmas, when I wanted something fun for the ski vacation. Me and my brothers mostly play Carc with both Rivers, Inns & Caths, Trader & Builder and some of the minor official expansions. I recently bought Abbey & Mayor, but we haven't tested that one yet.

A friend introduced me to the game about a year ago. I became hooked pretty fast. It's been my favorite game for the past year.

Played it at a friend's house. The following Saturday I promptly drove to my FLGS and bought one of everything.

LOL, I'm able to make impulse purchases like that because I have very low living expenses. At the time, "everything" was the base game w/river, I&C, T&B, King, Count, P&D, Tower, and River 2. I don't recall the exact cost, but I think it was less than $150 cdn. On the way home I took the price tags off the smaller expansions and pasted them on top of the larger expansions in case my family saw them.
