This'll be interesting... Any Real ale fans here? I realise there's a lot of non-Brits here but I'm intrigued to know who is , who isn't and... possibly more interesting, who hasn't a clue what I'm talking about!!

I go two ways with liquor: cheap crappy Alcopops and good hard Rum-based drinks (the harder, the better). I detest beer, lager, and ale as they all taste like something my digestive system regurgitated. Ick. Unfortunately, I've been on a diet for two months now and haven't had a drop of any alcohol since I started. So sad...so sad...

There are truly some amazing MicroBrews in North America. You should check out Tree brewing in your own back yard.

Give me a SHeppard Neame brew any day opf the week, Spitfire or Bishops Finger are my favs. Although I do like Waggledance and Old Speckled Hen.

Now if you want a good brew I would always go for Sleemans Cream Ale, a fine Canadian brew.

Since beer is probably my number one hobby (even though board gaming is more expensive) I could go on at lenght here. Suffice it to say that Trappist is what I consider the very best beer there is, with Lambic (the whole family) at a second place.

If all of you buy and drink a Westmalle Tripel (sic!) (if you lean toward dry/bitter bewerage) or a La Trappe Quadrupel (if you lean toward somewhat sweeter/lighter) or a Rochefort 10 (if you prefer really sweet/burned) I can almost guarantee that you will not look back. The important stuff is to not cool it too much, and to drink it from a chalice. The last part is very important - I am serious.

Now, I do enjoy stouts and porters as well (Guinnes is a waste of time, it is pretty much just brown water), but St. Peter's Cream Stout is a very nice stout, for example.

Actaually, I am not a big fan of many of the Belgian style beers. The English Ales and Porters are pure nectar to me. I attended the Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria BC this past year and I thought I was in Heaven.

Tonight during our poker game I had:

Pumpkin Pi Spiced Ale
Big Rock Brewing Piced Winter Ale
Alexander Keith's Red

I love trying varieties of beer and I would reallly like to try the one's you mentioned. I doubt they are available here.

Well, don't get it wrong, but I don't seem to like Brit beer. Portuguese beer is far better.. You got to drive off this little corner and give it a try. Foreign people adore it ... too much!!!! (if you know what I mean) particulary at football (soccer) games...
