My family likes using different expansions each time but has the problem that a) using them all takes far too long and b) no-one can agree whcih ones to play.

So

We developed a system where the individual expansion elements are treated separately and we will randomly draw 8 -10 to decide what is in play. So a typical session would include (as randomly selected right now)

Wagons
Extra Tiles from Traders and builders (i.e. not the trade goods tiles)
Mayor
Builder
Cult Places
Extra Tiles from Inns and Cathedrals (i.e. not the Inns or Cathedrals
King / Robber Baron
Sieges

It means you have to reevaluate how the elements will interact each time you play and all the expansions get some play without extending the time too much.

Any thoughts or anticipated problems.

This file on BGG is REALLY good for this sort of thing. Give every player some pennies (decide beforehand on 1,2, or 3) and let every player select the expansion(s) they want for the game by placing the pennies on the grid. Works VERY well.

Yes, I saw that one and mentioned to him about the fact that the figure is called Robber Baron and not The Scout.
But since we are playing with a lot of fan-made expansions as well that one doesn't work.
