I am not sure if I am invading on the Dragon Hunt expansion here, but here I go anyway. I have asked Joff to upload a pdf of the "very rough" first draft of the rules, and I believe he will do that soon so I won't bother copying the rules in text here. You will soon see the pdf. .../Wicke

I have heard that the meeples will look different and will be approximately 23 mm high and approximately 21 mm wide.

I like this expansion and have a few comments. The rules at present state (bold added for clarity): After the Giant has been placed, the player can move the Giant 1 step along his or her features at the end of the players turn (regardless of MTW). And After scoring, the Giant remains on the same tile and can be moved for every following turn as well, to search for new dragons to slay. Once a feature has been scored, followers are returned to their owners which would leave the Giant on a completed feature with no support from a follower of his colour. This would contradict the movement of the Giant (i.e. he would be unable to move as the feature he is in would not be owned by any players). Perhaps the Giant should have the ability to wander the countryside (like the Leper) and onto features owned by other players (after all, the citizens of such communities are only too pleased to have a Dragon slaying Giant of any colour in their territory), as long as it is only one tile orthognally [horizontally and vertically]. The slaying of the Dragon is rewarded by the people, and gives 20 points to the owner of the Giant. 20 points is a very high score for slaying the Dragon, especially as the Dragon returns when the next volcano tile is laid again. Perhaps 10 points would be better? If the Giant is moved on to the same tile as the Dragon, the Giant always manage to kill the Dragon, and the Dragon is removed from the game until another tile with volcano is placed. This states what happens when the Giant moves onto the tile containing the Dragon, but, what happens if the Dragon moves onto the tile containing the Giant? Or, is it possible for the Dragon to remove the Giant?

Good points, as usual.
1. The Giant needs a place to be deployed on which the player already has a follower on, but as you say, the Giant stays after a feature is scored, so that has to be added to the rules, that he can move freely even after that. And I will think about your suggestion to let him wander even on other players features.
2. Sure, I can go with 10 points for the slaying of the dragon.
3. No, the dragon always gets slayed by the Giant, so that happens even if the Dragon walks onto the tile with the Giant
Thanks for commenting .../Wicke

The Giant really needs a way to be returned to a players supply. Perhaps he could be returned to a player's supply should he slay a Dragon. He must then be redeployed as a MTW action (to a feature owned by the player) before he can move again. Maybe other players could capture (but not take him prisoner) by a Tower. This would provide a way for other players to deprive a Giant from slaying the Dragon.
Allowing the Giant to move one square at the end of the player's turn makes him a very powerful piece. Why not allow him to be moved as a MTW action for the player?

Yes, return to players supply after slaying could be done.
Yes, might be captured by the tower
But No, just one step each turn, I don't believe in making that as a MTW action, that would interfere too much with followers and other figures.
Version 0.3 is sent by email.

A very nice expansion, I like the idea, and the way the giant kills the dragon. But a question, is there one giant, or does each player get one? I think each player gets one, but the rules aren't too clear, like in the contents there is "The Giant" yet later on it seems as though each player has one...
Also, "The deploying of the Giant is made instead of 'moving the wood..." I'm not sure if I like the word 'made'. Maybe, 'effected' or 'performed'...

Extra pieces: I echo meepleater's question - is there only 1 giant, or does each player get one? I think the rules seems to indicate that each player gets one. Also, replace the word "meeple" with "follower". Adding pictures would also help.
Preparation: This expansion needs the expansion is to be played together with The Princess & the Dragon expansion to work. It will be work even better if played together with the fan-made expansion Dual Dragon as well.
Deploying the Giant: You can add may play the Giant to any feature that you already have a follower on. The deploying of the Giant is made carried out (or meepleater's performed) instead of ‘moving the wood’2 for theat player's turn.
Moving the Giant (1st paragraph): "along his or her features" is meaningless. "to a feature on an adjacent tile, if that player has followers on the feature" would be better. "step" needs to be defined as "moved to an adjacent tile".
Moving the Giant (2nd paragraph): The Giant is not returned to a player's supply Wwhen a feature with the Giant is scored. However and the followers on the feature are returned to the players supply as usual. , tThe Giant stays on the completed feature and from this point on can be moved in the same way (1 step tile per turn). However, but from now on, the Giant may also on move to features with no followers, and on to features owned by where another players already has followers in his search for dragons to slay.
Slaying the Dragon: I think there should be a statement saying that a player cannot move the dragon onto a tile that his giant is on. That would be causing the dragon to commit suicide, and give the player points as a reward for the dragon committing suicide.
Scoring: The entire section would be better in the Slaying the Dragon section.
Scoring (2nd paragraph): After scoring the dragon has been slayed and the reward awarded, the Giant is returned to the player's supply and can later be redeployed in accordance to the rules stated above as a MTW action (to a feature owned by the player), to search for new dragons to slay.
Additional questions (for interaction with official expansions): 1. Can the giant be deployed to the City of Carcassonne if a player already has a follower there? 2. What happens if the giant is deployed to a cloister or shrine or abbey? Can it move? 3. Can the giant be deployed on top of the tower? 4. Can the magic portal be used to deploy the giant? 5. If I draw a volcano tile and play it, can I play the giant onto the tile? 6. Does the giant count towards the majority of the feature being scored? 7. Can I play the giant onto a field that I have a barn? 8. Can the giant be affected by the Catapult tokens (i.e. exchanged, removed, etc.?)

I know this is an old thread
But I like the idea of a roving giant smashing dragons, and like it better than the Dragon Hunters ruleset
That said, I might offer an amalgamation which would streamline giant rules (at least in my mind)
Use the tiles from Dragon Hunter. When a player draws one, he can place his giant, and away it goes.
I am also a fan of idea where if one giant reaches tile with another giant on it, he pops him on head to eliminate the competition. You get 5 points and the losing giant goes back into players pool.

Feel free to take it over and develop or redevelop it or create something similar, Talisinbear. I do like your ideas though.
