I've got Purple Meeples!

I suggested this in another thread a few months back (sorry but I can't find it now). At the time I think all the admins had gone elsewhere so it it got lost somewhere in the depths. However, I thought it worth raising again...

Would it be an idea to create to new Forum areas? One for 'Other Games' - as in any games that are nothing to do with carcassonne. We are all gamers so obviously all have an interest in other games, as is very evident by the posts. Plus a another Forum area for 'Anthing Else' - Would be for exactly that, non carcassonne, non game interest.... I'm sure we all have other lives as well. This would help make it more of a friendly community; as in 'got a problem sorting something, perhaps the carcassonne guys have an idea about it'.

Both these would also save everybody having to apologise each time the subject drifts away from carcassonne.

Opinions people?

I think a "Other Games" forum is a good idea.

As posted on the other thread, I think that would be a great idea, because some of us share the same boardgames play and questions...

I also like the idea of an 'Other Games' forum.

I like both ideas: "Other Games" and "Anything Else".

@Wishmaster—your wish is my command  Grin

Okay, I set up both boards in a new category, 'Off topic'. I'm not the forum expert (Gantry is), so I'm not sure if I did everything correctly—I'd be grateful if people of various statuses could try a couple of test posts in each. They can easily be deleted afterwards so don't worry too much.

Consider this a trial: I haven't discussed it with Gantry, so he might object in any case. And these new boards will be carefully monitored: any worrying posts, and the entire boards will be removed. Legitimate use is fine, but I'm sure none of use would want the site to become a have for advertisers or worse.

Well I'd have had my reservations about an "other games" board, but it already has 200 posts, so I'll go with the flow!  As for "off-topic", that was on the to-do list, and I think it is important for a community to have other-topic interests to connect with one another, so that one is good too.  (Thanks Matt! I'll be double-checking the membergroup permissions for all boards in the near future, so will do these too.)

A lot of those posts in the "Other Games" area were originally posted here in "General".  I think Tobias spent a large amount of his time moving the relevant posts there a while back.

Nah - it was rather quick Smiley I am not sure I found all though, so feel free to report any old posts you find!
