I'm thinking of an expansion (12 tiles?) centred around fairy tales.  Yes, children stories.  I have no idea what the tiles would do yet (it's still work in development), but I thought it would be fun to have

Gingerbread House with gumdrops, in the middle of a forest with a road, from Hansel and Gretel
Three little pigs cottages, 1 on each tile, straw on farm, wood on forest, brick near or in a city, from Three Little Pigs
Little Red Riding Hood's Grandmother's house, near a forest with a road, from Little Red Riding Hood
Scarecrow in field, Tin Man's cottage in forest, cowardly lion on road in forest, with parts of the road laid with yellow bricks, from Wizard of Oz
Rapunzel's tower, at the end of a road, on the border between forests and fields

There's 9 tiles, and each one would presumably have an ability of some sort.  I'd also have to draw all the images from scratch... which will probably take ages.

Suggestions are welcomed although I don't guarantee I'll use them (it's gonna be hard drawing things)

This has been in the back of mind too. I think it will be a fun one for children to play because they will recognize their favorite stories.

I like the choices of fairy tales. Little Red Riding Hood is even a French fairy tale. (Le Petit Chaperon Rouge in 1697) Wink

Wizard of Oz could almost be its own expansion, with several yellow brick road tiles and an Emerald City tile. It could play similar to the river.

Any thoughts on what effects these tiles are going to have?

I have no idea yet.

The brick house will probably be immune to being eaten by the dragon, while the cowardly lion will prevent the dragon from entering the forest that he's in.  Or something.  I have no idea what powers they should have at the moment.

Tile testing, comments welcomed.  This is the Scarecrow tile from The Wizard of Oz tale, although I'm not including the other Wizard of Oz elements.  Actually, the Wizard of Oz will make great tiles - Emerald city, poppy fields, yellow brick road, flying monkeys, "Kansas" Smiley  Maybe I might split this up into Fairy Tales and a Wizard of Oz expansion.  We shall see.

I could, but then it will be out of scale on the tile.  It is already almost as tall as a house now (compare it with the houses in the background).  I'd rather leave it as it is to keep the scale the same.

OK, I think I'm going to move the Wizard of Oz tiles to a new expansion since I've got enough ideas that they are crowding out the rest of this set.  This set will contain...

Some Disney princesses

I wanna do a fiona and Shrek Smiley but that will probably not be in theme...

Rapunzel with her tower would be within the theme
Snow White and the 7 dwarves cottage
Cinderella's cottage maybe?
The Beast's mansion in a forest

And the following from the first post:
Gingerbread House with gumdrops, in the middle of a forest with a road, from Hansel and Gretel
Three little pigs cottages, 1 on each tile, straw on road, wood on forest, brick near or in a city, from Three Little Pigs
Little Red Riding Hood's Grandmother's house, near a forest with a road, from Little Red Riding Hood
Another Lake with a swan from the Ugly Duckling.

That's  10.  2 more to round off the expansion.  As usual, this expansion will probably be playable without any extra rules, but I'll also include rules for the 12 tiles.

Here's a preview (if you observe carefully, you can see Rapunzel's blonde braid along the side of the tower):

Been a while since I read Rapunzel, but I was under the impression that the tower was surrounded by very dense overgrowth. Or am I confusing with a different "save the princess" story?

You sir, are correct.  I will have to revise it with forests on all 4 sides Grin  Next you'll tell me the ugly duckling didn't live next to a city Shocked

Edit: Little Red Riding Hood.  Who knew Dorothy could be recoloured to be her!

OK, so the Wizard of Oz has a wizard meeple.  I think I'd like to have a gold fairy for Fairy Tales.  I'm not sure what the fairy would do, but I don't want it to depart too far from the current fairy idea of providing protection from the dragon, of moving it as a MTW, etc.  Suggestions are welcome!

Tiles all done.  Here's a preview:

Left to right, top to bottom (with elements from the following expansions):

Rapunzel's tower (The Outpost)
Ugly Duckling (Swan Lake)
Little Red Riding Hood (An Apple A Day + Big Bad Wolf)
7 Dwarves Cottage + Snow White (An Apple A Day)
Cinderella's Cottage with lots of Pumpkins (Evergreen Forest)
Hansel and Gretl - Gingerbread hosue (Timber & Evergreen Forest)
Beauty and the Beast - Manor (Lord of the Manor)
The boy who cried wolf (Big Bad Wolf)
The Little Mermaid (Kettle of Fish)
3 Little Pigs - Brick house (Big Bad Wolf)
3 Little Pigs - House of sticks (Big Bad Wolf)
3 Little Pigs - House of straw (Big Bad Wolf)

The Big Bad Wolf is a new meeple introduced as part of this expansion.  It's like the dragon but is a lot more limited in scope.

If the other expansions are not being played with, then the icons have no function.

Rules are next... and then after that, hopefully, it's meepleater's tiles (and maybe the rules if he wants my help) followed by Log Cabin.
