I had an idea for a Carcassonne race which borrows from JPutt927's race mechanic in the Lake. JPutt927 has reviewed and blessed this so here it is for your consumption. If you're looking for something else to do with your Pig that could be a bit more lucrative than sitting on a farm then this is the expansion for you. Take a look for the Pig Race to Riches folder here: http://www.mediafire.com/?rfsh5y45i2eiiI am looking for perhaps a better name so all suggestions are welcome. Let me know what you think or if you have suggestions for improvements. Happy Carcking!

I think it's cool I have downloaded the rules sheet, will have to sit down for an easy read. I wondered if you would be able to upload the tile 'n tokens so we can produce em and have a try-out .

Hey thanks Trebuchet! Glad you like it.
I'll see what I can do to get the tile and tokens up. I think what I've got made up is not very good graphics - not high res. I'll see if I can improve them.

Here are the Finish Line tile and the KCR tokens. What we did with the tokens is printed two sheets and pasted on the front and back of the tokens so they were always right side up. It was a pain to have to keep flipping them over. Find them in the Pig Race to Riches folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?rfsh5y45i2eii

I love idea but it's a big overly complicated to me.
I'd simplify when I make it.
Winner say 15 points, 2nd 10, 3rd 5. No need to count tiles.
Might even offer players a 'race pig' as a bonus piece.
The tokens don't seem to fit with race idea either (but that's my view)

Hey thanks Talisinbear - appreciate the feedback. You could easily simplify the scoring. I like the idea of it being different each game but a fixed score would work. I wanted to make sure it was more valuable than putting your pig on farm. I think your idea of 15 points would accomplish that - I don't think there are too many 15 city farms. It seems to me though that the games we've played with it the race was worth more than 15 points. I think they were in the 20s but it's not anything that I've recorded. We'd have to play test it some more to see if 15 is fair or apporpriate.
Extra pig meeples is certainly an option that doesn't really have a downside. I think you'd want to be careful that the extra pig does not get used on a farm.
The tokens are intended to simulate the "rat" race of commerce - the race to make profit on infrastructure. They are independent of the pig race so can be left off the game as a matter of personal choice. They are a race of their own as winning this race can be quite lucrative. In a four player game, for example, each player has 6 tokens so there are 24 tokens in the game. By the time the first player places his last token each players has placed usually 4 to 5 tokens. The race can be worth 16 to 20 points plus the bonus of negative scoring suffered by the opponents - and you've placed tokens by scoring majority control of 6 features.
Thanks for the comments!

I was thinking a 'race pig" could have a number on it even.
I just think set points save a lot of counting

good thing this is followed up thanks for the uploads, might i offer to do work on the artwork for this finishtile? I'm thinking more C* style smt like; F-F-F-F the way it is now, but with roads leading to a finishline (fading in from sides to middle), some cloth on pole finish thingy, not sure yet. I'm having too much work at hand to do it on very short notice, might squeeze this in though

I would like to see it incorporate the pig racer theme somehow though.

I am looking forward to this one, but going to simplify to giving each player a race pig and sticking to that.
I am wondering though if anyone has considered a start tile in one city, and finish in another? Would seem more logical than racing to a field.
Thanks

Finishing in another city could work - but you wouldn't want it to be cccc because it may not play when it's drawn. You would need at least a cccf tile to be sure it played.
You might consider allowing my field finish tile to be played in a city as a sort of village square. If it's played as such on a city then only city tiles can be played on it going forward. Something like that.
Thank you for showing your interest!

true
I just think city-to-city makes the greatest sense.
I'm going to order some extra pigs and put race numbers on them. That way everybody gets in race.
