Hey all,

This afternoon, my wife and I played a really fun game of Carcassonne, using a few expansions:  River I, River II, Traders & Builders, and Inns & Cathedrals.  Because I forgot to pull them out of our meeple bags, we didn't use the pig from Traders & Builders.

I ended up winning 276 to 260, a 16 point difference.  I was happy for the rare win against my wife, but she was a little slower off the mark on farming this game, which was probably the difference.

Some highlights:  I managed to join my wife's city that had one of the cathedrals, so we shared a good number of points when it was completed.  The other cathedral had to be abandoned without that city being claimed by either of us, near the end of the game.  I ended up farming for 14 completed cities, compared to 7 cities for my wife (we shared some cities).  I won the points for the most cloth and wheat trade goods and she won for the wine barrels.  Despite everything, the game was still very close.

A picture taken during farmer scoring is attached (hope that worked).  As you can see in the picture, the plastic bag holding our green meeples is on the top left.  Some good sized cities were completed.  Notice the long "road by an inn" at the bottom left corner, which was another source of many points.

To share a tip, we use coloured glass beads (flat on the bottom) for both the scoring track (so we each use 8 regular meeples in game play) and to score the farms (marking the cities being supplied by each player's farms).  We also use the beads with the Wheel of Fortue scoring track when using the King & Scout mini-expansion.

And now that I think of it, such coloured glass beads could be used with the "Phantom" rules for the forthcoming Carcassonne: Das Gefolge expansion (but just until we can purchase the real transparent meeples, of course).  Smiley

Looks like a good game. Do you use the older rules for scoring farms? You must have, because I come up with a different count for farms.

I played against my wife a couple of weeks ago, using the same expansions (plus GQ11). I squeaked out a victory, with 319 points to her 318. She was livid, but she won a four-player game last night, so things are back on an even keel.

Ouch, losing by one point...

I like the "heartland" in the middle.  Looks like a good place to put a cloister too.  Smiley

Great looking map!  I love taking pics when we are done; I post them into my Facebook gaming folder.  Looks like a fun game for sure!

I played today with my wife and meant to take a picture, but forgot about it until I already started taking the board apart.  It was a good game.   We played with the WoF tiles (minus the actual wheel and 19 wheel tiles), A&M tiles (minus Abbies), Tunnels, Shrines, King, Families (23 tiles), Kings Gate, a few Solazy tiles (Colloseum, Ranch), a few Mathguy tiles, Bridges, Pig, Builder, and Missionary.  It was an odd mix, but she likes a smaller game.  We battled from start to finish over a city that ened up scoring 48 points unfinished.  It was the first tile I played and the second to last before I finally shut her out.  I think there were only a dozen complete cities, most of which where two tiles and none over 5 tiles, though I did score a second incomplete one that was 29 points.  I ended up with both the King and Robber tiles, but needed them and the big cities to beat her.  She was ahead of me by 50 or 60 at one point.  She also kept taking the Missionary and sticking it out on the edge so I couldn't use it to my benefit.

I probably should have let her win.  :Smiley

We are using older scoring (4 points per farmer supplied city), but should switch to the most recent rules, especially if we are going to be using some of the newer expansions!

Yeah, I think it's better.  If you use the pig and/or pig herd tile, it makes up the difference anyway.
