Last night, four of got together and played a game of Carcassonne using the Wheel of Fortune, fan-based Seasons, and fan-based Family Feud expansions. Here's my review of Family Feud:
I only played with 24 tiles since that is the maximum number of tiles that my expansion container will hold. The 6 tiles that were removed were mostly duplicate tiles anyway. You really had to pay attention to the color on the shield. Most of us were building two cities at a time, one with blue shields, the other with red. We also found that it was very easy to block somebody's city from being completed by placing tiles with the opposite colored shield next to where they need to build.
It's tempting to start new cities because of the oppurtunity for extra points with all of the shields, but on the other hand, it's easy to block someone from building. Overall, it was enjoyable. Nobody was able to finish a city that was too big, and all the big cities were unable to be completed by the end of the game. So it seemed to balance out well.
