I thought everyone should know that The River (I), which apparently has been withdrawn from the Big Box 2 and the base game, will be available as a stand-alone this Fall. Assuming Fun Again Games is correct, which it usually is, The River I will be available starting this month (October) and will cost $5.99 in the US. The Product Description notes that "This is the original river expansion for Carcassonne. It was included for a time in the basic game, but will be removed to make it available separately for those who want it. It is 12 tiles, each with a portion of the river. It replaces the starting tile for the basic game in game play." So it sounds like it is going to be an official stand-alone in the US now, not a free bonus expansion with the base game/Big Box. I guess that is both good and bad, depending on how you obtained the base game.

Both good and bad yes, but now you have a choice - and that is good Smiley

Shoot! You're right. If they do, I've got to buy one. Looks like my old River I would then become a Christmas gift for someone. That's what I did with my old Count, King & Robber, and River II. I gave them to my brother-in-law last Christmas after I got a hold of a Count, King and Cult expansion set from Germany. Watermarks make all the difference. I even added little green dots on all my GQ11 tiles...they are the Sharpie expansion!

Still, I doubt they will have watermarks. Jay doesn't seem to like adding his own watermarks if HiG doesn't come with them. See: Cult, Siege & Creativity.

It's now "in stock" at funagain games.  Has anyone purchased it yet?

Edit: The expansion page at RGG shows it as a new release.

I doubt it, but I wonder if the new River I release includes watermarks?

Is it still not available in Germany?  Or are you after the English version of the rules?
