Finally got this one ready, and it's pretty big.  This expansion adds the following to the Oceans:

Maelstroms (warp tiles)
Hurricanes (Abbey like gap fillers)
New NPCs: Leviathan, Pirate Khayr, mermaid
Pirate sanctuaries
New merchant system and a new trade counters
52 new tiles
new starter tiles
and more

Get it here and tell me what you think:

Is it my Adobe reader or are there letters and spaces missing in the rules?

Quote
Maelstroms are Ocean whirlpools created by powerful currents that transport boats to far
flung corners of the map. When a boatmoves onto a tile with a maelstrom, it move to the
other maelstrom for free. If the maelstromof the other colour is not yet
in play, no transport is possible in that case. Howev r, if it moves onto a multi-coloured
maelstrom, it may move to other maelstrom. A boat cannot sail through a maelstr
without being transported. Maelstroms close reef features and fishing zones, as s in the example here. To
move past this maelstroma player would have to sail h s boat through the reef. Additionally, the player that plays
a maelstrom tile may place his follower onto open and legal feature with at least one part of the tile having an
ocean or reef, thereby circumventing normal follower p acement rules for the Ocean for that turn.

Check out the word "However" above - it is missing it's second "e".  I thought it was just limited to this section, but a quick glance shows that it occurs throughout the document...

Wow, that's pretty weird.  Try the shiny word version here:

And, are people liking it?  Does anyone think they will go through the work to create use this stuff?

I'll be happy to go through and look at all this stuff next week when we are home.  I'm not able to get to it right now.  Looking forward to it!

Very good overall.  Some comments:

Section Maelstroms:
Quote
Maelstroms close reef features and fishing zones
Maelstroms divide fishing zones and reefs end at a maelstrom?

Section Hurricanes:
- The text of the first paragraph is not justified.
- NPC is a gaming term.  The Big Box 2 calls those "neutral figures"

Section Leviathan:
Quote
The leviathan eats any follower or support follower it crosses in its movement.  Return the eaten follower(s) to its player’s reserve.  The leviathan also eats Khayr.
By eats do you mean remove?  Or does the leviathan have a special action feature that it can swallow stuff into its hollow body?

Section Ocean Trade Simple Example 1st para:
- "point-to-point" is missing the hyphens.
- "When a merchant reaches a new harbour with it’s goods, it immediately scores according to the chart at right."  The "it's" there looks funny - I have no idea whether it should be with or without the apostrophe.  It reads better if the word was deleted completely, i.e. "with goods".
- "Count the tiles from the trade marker using the most direct path, over islands if possible."  The word "the" is missing.

Section Disaster! - Scurvy, rats, and bad food
- "This chosen follower is removed from the map and is returned to it’s player."  The apostrophe should be deleted.

Section Pirate Sanctuary
- "In that case, the pirate claims in all four directions."  claims the reefs?

I'm still a bit confused about Ocean Trade.  Do you think you can provide an example for the simple rules?

OK here's version 0.2 with hopefully everything addressed.  I'll be on vacation for a week now so I won't be updating this for a while.

I think the tiles are zipped up in the first post of the thread.

BTW, please check the download file and let me know if I have missed out anything.  Thanks.

I got one, maybe two more, if I can come up with some worthwhile stuff for the second.  The next one is called "Buried Treasure" and is still pretty deep in development.  By the way, on the download the second starter tile has an error that I missed.  Here's the fixed version:

http://www.mediafire.com/?zf2mm5narug

Also, on the rules, I don't have adobe acrobat so I can't do high quality PDFs.  As a result the rules look a bit fuzzy to me.  Are you interested on a Word version of the rules?

Finally, on the description of this on the download page, it says there are mutinies.  That was introduced in the "men of the sea" expansion.  Turbulent waters introduced the trade system though which I personally think is one of it's coolest features.

I don't have the fonts that you use, and my MS Word butchers the formatting that you normally send over.  I use PDF redirect, downloadable free from http://www.exp-systems.com/ , which acts just like a printer.  Perhaps you can try that.  I've removed the mutanies reference, and uploaded the updated file.

Yea I've tried the printer PDF makers, and for me they always cause headaches.  Is everybody else getting the text mixed up?  Is there anyone with acrobat that could convert these?
