Title: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Sekim on February 22, 2012, 02:21:46 am The regular list for this matter hasn't been updated since june 2010:
http://carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=534.0 (http://carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=534.0) I wonder if there's another list of completed expansions which haven't been made public in the download section but are waiting to be added. Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Trebuchet on February 22, 2012, 05:46:42 am Sekim i spent several days - if not weeks- to go through all the threads in the workshop section and find the final versions of fanspansions not mentioned in the homepage listing at the fan made expansions page (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=49&Itemid=62)
After that it's a matter of checking back and keeping up to date best you can ;) (There's quite a few great ideas still waiting to be completed by the way.) One of the moderators invented a search word to be able to quickly track down the final versions as soon as an update in the list mentioned before could be made. But after some period of time even that was banned. As my search was made almost a year ago i can not recall who it was or what is the search word was. For you I suppose you need to also check all threads of interest, work you way from last post to first in each thread to find the final versions as they are posted last mostly. I would say whenever an update can be made, the mods should send an e-mail to all listed members asking for a hyperlink to their final versions fan made expansions, if any. That would be the quickest way to be able to complete the list. Well, if all respond that is. Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Sekim on February 22, 2012, 05:59:24 am I remember something about a search word as well.
Dunno why but something with a dog comes to mind. ??? Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Trebuchet on February 22, 2012, 06:02:53 am Yep that was it: Blue dogs (+ the occassional variants like bluedog / blue dogs / bluedogs)
Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Sekim on February 22, 2012, 06:03:12 am Bluedogs was the keyword. I just found it. Looks like Novelty introduced it.
Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Trebuchet on February 22, 2012, 06:06:25 am Haha, well bluedogs added to Stained Glass expansion, for when smo starts a search in 2014 ;D
Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Scott on February 22, 2012, 09:18:32 am Novelty somehow lost his ability to upload files to the site, which is why he stopped maintaining the list. I've been waiting for Gantry to give me access so that I can restore Novelty's access, but Gantry seems to have done another one of his disappearing acts. I think we're at the point where I need to pick up the phone again and push things along that way.

Post by: Bixby on February 22, 2012, 09:22:00 am I know I sound like a guy beating a dead horse, but the site could be easier to maintain going forward (Along with downloads) if some standardized add-ons were installed. These are typically 1click installs and add great functionality.

I haven't done anything yet because I wanted to talk to Gantry about it first, and I'm concerned about the confusion of having two different download areas. It occurs to me now that we could still have the download section on the web site, but link to the files on the forum instead of uploading them into /images/download/ I'm also thinking that it would be nice to have a way to separate completed expansions from in-progress expansions; possibly moving the completed expansions to a different forum. I think what I'll do is install that add-on and we'll see how it works. Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? I think the site will stay vibrant if it is easy to maintain. Admin burnout is a concern. Just looking after your well-being Scott. :) Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Scott on February 22, 2012, 12:23:28 pm I appreciate it my friend.
I've installed the Downloads add-on and spent the past 2 hours loading in everything from the current downloads on the web site. I've installed the Downloads add-on and spent the past 2 hours loading in everything from the current downloads on the web site. Wow. Great work Scott. That was quick. Looks Good!!!! Added benefit of not needing a password too. I bet it is limited to member accounts only. Superb. That was merit worthy, but I would like to reward you more. What is your BGG account, I would like to donate some GeekGold to you for your efforts. Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Amorpheus on February 23, 2012, 09:43:30 am Looks great Scott. Another well deserved merit. Looking forward to seeing new expansions posted here (JPutt??).
Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Scott on February 25, 2012, 02:15:58 pm Added all the expansions that were marked with the "blue dogs" keyword (or a variation thereof).
I suspect there might still be other expansions that were completed and not marked. My plan to deal with that is to prune all the expansions from this forum that are complete and available for download. After that, I'll look at the remaining threads for completed expansions and make them available for download. That will leave only uncompleted expansions in this forum, which I feel is appropriate since this is supposed to be a workshop. Completed expansions don't need to be in the workshop anymore. Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: CKorfmann on February 25, 2012, 04:08:39 pm This is a good idea. Thanks for taking the time to do this Scott.
Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Scott on February 25, 2012, 07:20:31 pm Ok, absolutely every thread remaining in the Expansion Workshop is an unfinished expansion. All the completed expansions have been moved to the new Completed Expansions forum, and other cruft has been moved either here or a more appropriate forum (some went to variant worshop, general, etc.)
I'd like to encourage everybody to dig through the five pages of the Expansion Workshop and see what you can do to help push those expansions forward (especially if you're the one who started them and they're almost done). We have expansions at various phases of development - some are just rough ideas, others are more refined, and a few are already in draft stage. Title: Re: Is there a list of completed but not yet uploaded fan-spansions? Post by: Scott on February 25, 2012, 11:18:03 pm Ownership for each file in the downloads has been assigned to the creator, or in the case of collaborations, to the person who posted the file. You guys now have the ability to edit your expansions, which includes changes to the title, description, and the ability to upload a new version of the file. There is a limit to max file size (4.7 MB); if you need help getting your file sizes down let me know.
