Just to add this to the variants section because of interest from another post.

Adding rapid tiles that would improve the score value of a river who has a follower on the river. Could also include some rapid tiles with a fish icon from fish kettle expansion.

Adding water falls on the river, which stops the fisherman from scoring points from that point. Since the river is not completed the player can not score the river points and remove his fisherman. The river needs to be completed before points are awarded and the fisherman returned to the player.

Adding some lake tiles that continue with a new river. a lake tile can also have water falls going into or going from the lake.

And if there is any interest to make it possible to make larger lakes like cities that I have seen done on another site. Somebody on here probably knows exactly which site that is.

I'd use tiles like this, I think it would make rivers a lot more robust (and in line with the other elements of the game).
