I don't care for the original Risk due to the fact that it lasts way too long and not all the original players are participating at game end. Risk 2210 solves both problems in that it has a limited number of turns and all players keep going to the bitter end.

That being said, it still has problems. I've found that the game is almost always won by the person who acts last in the final turn and then by the strategy of them taking over the moon. There is a variant that breaks the turns down into phases with each player completing the actions of a phase before continuing. I have not played that yet but I think it might go a long way towards eliminating some of the "problems" of the game.

well may be it's because chance and I in Risk don't get along prety well. Perhaps dice suck!

I agree.  Every time I play Risk I end up getting a Rambo on Iceland that holds off army after army after army.  I know this is a strategy game, but rolling dice just is not my thing, as I hate that amount of randomness in gaming.  Especially for 3 or 4 hours.  Mind you, I love Yatzee.... but that is more of a get loaded and toss dice around -- totally different situation.

Despite its pitfalls, I love Risk, at least some Risk games. I like Godstorm, although I always lose. I like Lord of the Rings Risk, because it is awesome. I enjoy the original Risk, especially if you are playing with goals and not total conquest. But my least favorite game, somewhat ironically, is Star Wars Original Trilogy Risk, which receives much praise on BGG, but I cannot stand it. If you are the Empire, you pretty much always win. If you are the Rebels, you basically get three random chances of winning, after which the Empire obliterates you. If you are the Hutts, then you are just annoying and no one wants to help you because the Hutts want everyone's planets. Playing SW Risk with five players is just dumb, it is clearly a three player game.

Star Wars Original Trilogy Risk gets a 2/10 in my book. And that is being generous. Too bad I bought it for a Christmas present for my girlfriend two years ago. It was a poor choice in gifts, although it seemed cool at the time.
