Had an idea, tell me what you think. For young children, getting them to play Carc might be slightly more enjoyable if they could play using recognizable elements, such as Shrek characters. You could use these tiles along with any of the simplified Carc-for-children rules available in the Variant registry or elsewhere. Some ideas: - Shrek faces on random tiles, gives 1 extra point if drawn
- uh, I guess that's the only idea I have
There should be no copyright issues if it is for personal use, but of course Dreamworks may disagree.

Personally, I find the very idea of combining something as awesome as Carcassonne with something as abominable as Shrek utterly repulsive. But I'm sure that's just me

I disagree mj. We should do something to attract kids. Other games have kids versions as Catan, Monopoly and so on... Someone should think of it, Gantry!

Why juniorise it? Kids will be drawn to things that make them seem more adult anyways.

I don't think using Shrek's face/name can be justified as "fair use".
I hated Junior Monopoly. I'm not keen on this.

Well, I was thinking of a Carc with simpler rules and some new attractive logos. Why not Star Wars Carcassonne? Well... just kidding!

Well... star wars is being reinvented with "the attack of the clones" on cartoon movie. But LOTR will be even greater ... for a fun-made expansion!?

8)LotR would be so awesome...
A city could be a village (knight=peasant), fields could be forests (farmer=elf), roads could be... roads (thief=ranger), cloisters could be... special places... (minas tirith, rivendell etc.)
Traders and Builders would work, The Tower would be nice except it could be called Amun Sul... heh heh heh heh
I suppose this is a bit off-topic isn't it?

If you are going down that road you might as well have a version with Disney Princess for little girls, a dinosaurs themed one, maybe a Japanese themed version for the Japanese...

I think a Carc-themed Monopoly might have more success...
