The FAQ is a great source of information for Carcassonne. Is there any plans to expand it and allow its siblings space there as well? Hunters and Gatherers has one expansion (so far) and the rules for Scout aren't crystal clear. The rest of the family have no expansions yet (City and Castle probably won't ever get any either) but it would be neat to have a place for all of the Carcassone games available Smiley

So, in short: are there any plans for this?

I've yet to play Discovery or Arc, but I do like to read about them - and I will buy them... eventually.

I'm totally in favour of this, but as Matt is our resident FAQ author, I think I'll defer this to him!

Here's the background: all of the FAQ are either from the official HiG site, or from direct correspondence with them. There's a couple of posts by HiG on the Spielbox forums too. Currently, the HiG site has no FAQ at all, since it is being 'rebuilt' - and has been for the best part of a year.

When I started translating the FAQ, I covered everything on the old HiG site, but there were only about two questions for Hunters and Gatherers and one for The City, something like that. I don't have any of the other games in the Carcassonne family, and once the FAQ for the basic game were up I never received any questions about the family games, so I never bothered to look any further.

I still have no plans to include the family games in the FAQ - I'm working on the Completely Annotated Rules and don't have the energy to go hunting for questions about games I never play. I wouldn't even know what was worth looking for, either. If there was a decent page on HiG, I'd translate it, no problem.

I can put up the couple of questions that were there if you like. And if anyone knows of any official FAQ anywhere on the web, that's fine. If people who play the games want to compile a list of questions to ask HiG (or RGG, who tend to be a bit monosyllabic), then that's also fine.

I do think, and this is crucial, that the FAQ must be official. Sure, they might be translations, and not even recognised translations, but they are the actual rulings of the game's producers. They aren't my opinion. And any new FAQ which we put up should be of the same standard.

Thanks mjharper for your answer Smiley It does make sense that it has to be official - that's true, my trail of thoughts didn't reach that far ...

It's also rather obvious that the original Carcassonne is far more populare than any of it's offspring, and while I consider H&G to be a more strategic game (with a sidenote that P&D and TT adds a lot of that to Original C) it's still just my opinion.

And as long as there are no expensions to the other siblings I guess it's all pretty clear. But if you feel like it those few questions would be a nice addition for - if nothing else - the sake of completion Smiley

Tobias, if you wanted to tackle it yourself and create FAQs where no FAQs currently exist, just let us know how we can help.

Well crap - how hard can it be? I had a glass of wine with Sara and now I feel confident  Grin

Hm, where can people post their questions? I plan to vacuum BGG for information - it'll be concensus and not official verdict - knowing fully well that this is an opposition towards C FAQ. I hope that this will be allright anyway?

If nothing else - I'll prepare it tomorrw, now I have other things to do, Sara said she wanted a good spanking in Fjords - for example (yeah, she didn't word it that way, but we all know the outcome anyway Cheesy )

The title can specify "The Unofficial [whatever] FAQ" until such time as the questions become "official".  Or better yet, once you have your set of questions, email them to the publisher and see if you get a response.  If they agree, then it's Official!

I just saw on BGG that Matt had translated the FAQ for every C game (I think) there is. So maybe that would be enough to include here Smiley

I'll check in again later, but today is St:Patricks day, and that needs to be celebrated in som eway. My guess is that I'll down a few lagers and sing bawdy songs...
