Hi, long time lurker, finally registered  Grin

Carcassonne 2 (Hunters & Gatherers) runs great on Parallels in my iMac, the only caveat is that CPU usage is a little high when the machine thinks or when I'm moving the piece,  but the overall experience is good.

Now that there's this Cider program to "wrap" PC games to run under OS X, has anyone successfully configured Carcassone 2?

thanks!

UPDATE: Got it working using Crossover Cheesy
CPU Usage is still high, but looks like any other mac app! Cheesy

well, I have it installed in a folder called "Carcassonne JuS". I forgot if I renamed it to that, since that's the title in german.

Excuse if my english isn't good, not my native language.

Don't worry. Mine neither. I'm Portuguese.
Is there any PC version of the game?

Yes, I'm referring to the PC version, it plays great, and as far as I know it's portable, I put in on a USB and have played it lots of times on other computers, with a little slowdown, but it plays better if I just copy it to the hard drive and run it from there.

Joff: Cool!

Well, got the game running. As I had no luck with Cider, instead I installed Crossover. It didn't work right away, and to get it working I just added the windows fonts pack and DCOM98 (just in case) to the install, and now it runs great Grin

Grin

Instructions:
In Crossover preferences, UNCHECK "hide packages"
Now create a bottled app, select DCOM98 as the base
Install Windows Fonts
Wait
When finished, select "open bottle in finder"
Folder opens
drag and drop the folder (if it's already portable) inside Program Files
In Crossover, Run Command
Select it and check "Make shorcut"
enjoy Grin

You can even change preferences in-game like resolution and they will be saved Piggy

well, my carc2 version is horribly cripped, only one view (from top), no music, no extras, even no intro.
It isn't for sale??

It isn't for sale anymore.  However, you can try digging though old games (in stores and ebay.de) and see if you can still find it.

On a PC with Vista: I got Carcassone Collectors Box running but not H&G. Think Joff originally said it won't run from C:\ drive but will externally. So do I just install it to a flash pen drive? I have a D:\ drive in the PC and an external HD - Would it run on them?

I have H&G running successfully on a Vista machine. All I have done is intall it to my external drive the same way I did the Carc Collector's Box.

As for the flash drive, all I done was copy the entire folder from my external drive to the flash drive. It works fine.

Interesting.... I assume that it doesn't put any files elsewhere in the install then (/windows etc)? Must dig it out and give it a try.

Joff is right. While trying to make it run under Mac I booted up windows to check the registry, and it only wrote a single entry, nothing critical AFAIK.

I made this "crippled" one removing unnecesary files, taking out skins, tiles and music, to make it lean enough to fit on a USB and still have some space, running the game everytime I removed something, removing something more and running it again, and again and again! back at the time when a 256 mb USB was something huge! LOL
