Using only intersections with Houses to count as end-points for the roads seems to me to be contrary to the official rules both v.1 & v.3; or at least to the way that we've always played them. If the bushes completely break the write line of the road then we count it as an end point to all of the roads that converge at that spot. Either way would work for your particuler gaming group as long as you were consistent. To try to introduce such a subtle variation could lead to extensive arguements and a break down in the Meta-Game when it came time to scoring those Roads, especially when the Robber Baron tile (from the "King & Scout" Exp.) is used for the longest road built, since this is potentially a 25-35 point bonus (1 pt. per completed road segment) at End Game for the player in pocession of it and greatly in contention during our sessions.
Yes - of course it's a contradiction to the official rules, but we don't care :P
We've never had an argument over where roads stop. It's simple really - bushes aren't considered stops, that's all.
