Hi there! a quick question about Shrines/Abbey/Cloister placement, can we have a visual play example to show where we can play a "cult tile" to avoid the multiple cloister/abbey/shrines...

Also, the challenge between a monk and an heretic looks to not "give points" it is only fade out a monk/heretic who propably will never score points(or the bonus at the end of the game...) so, when a challenge is won by a player, it ADDS a meeple to the opponent too(kinda sucks!). my point there, IF the winner of the challenge scores for the "cult place(c/a/s)" he scores 9 points... if by returning the opponent meeple to the suplpy the winner of the challenge pick up another few points( i was thinking to the # of tiles surrounded by the cloister as a bonus)

do it makes sense(like variant??)

p.s. hope it is clear, cuz it's LATE, i am fading!

I have no clue what you're talking about, but it's late for me too. I'll read it again tomorrow and see if it makes any more sense.

Let's see...

We know that cloisters can be placed next to each other.
We also know that shrines can be placed next to each other.
What I think you're asking is what do the rules mean when a cloister cannot be placed next to multiple shrines and a shrine cannot be placed next to multiple cloisters.

Let's assume o = other tile, c = cloister, s = shrine.

The current board is like this:

ococ

A shrine may be placed:

ococ
s

ococ
_s

ococ
___s

However, the shrine cannot be placed

ococ
__s

because the shrine will be next to more than one cloister.

If the board is like this:

osso
os

Then the cloister cannot be placed

_c
osso
os
(next to two shrines below it)

or

__c
osso
os
(next to two shrines below it)

or

osso
osc
(next to 3 shrines)

It can however be placed

osso
os_c

as that is only next to 1 shrine.

Heh, I'm sure someone will come up with the pictures soon...

Nope, you can't have more than 1 of the other tile (cloister or shrine) in the outer 8 surrounding tiles.  Note that an abbey counts as a cloister!
