Here they are, the new versions of the Completely Annotated Rules!

Wait, what? Versions plural?

Yep. Now that we have a Winter Edition that really can't be played with the Standard Edition (at least not without drawing out of a bag and creating a patchwork landscape), there is a separate document for each one. We are pretty much completely up to date now, with all of the most recent expansions included. And, thanks to kettlefish, we have a bunch of clarifications for those questions that had been left over from the last version of the CAR. As before, both documents have links and bookmarks so you can go from the Table of Contents straight to the chapter of your interest.

Okay, enough chatter.

Here is the link to the Carcassonne: Standard CAR (S-CAR) v. 6.2.
And here is the link to the Carcassonne: Winter CAR (W-CAR) v. 1.0.

Hi Obervet03,

thanks for the CAR 6.2 and for the W-CAR 1.0.

Hopefully that HiG will publish more of the Winter-Edition in the next Winter 2013/2014.

I think I would miss the rainbow colouring documents in the next time...

Greetings
kettlefish

And for the Rest:
Obervet03 had no contact in the last time to the people who helped with the front page for the CAR 6.2. A new front page is coming in the CAR 6.3.

The people at the German Carcassonne-Forum are working at the proof reading for the CAR.

hi there,

there is a small "mistake" on page 22:

> Note: the following tile is shown in the
instructions but is not actually included
in the tiles of the set.

thats not completelly right. i heard the first version of this expansion was a faulty print, which did not include the mentioned tile but another one two times. i ordered this expansion days ago and received a correct one including the missing tile (together with the faulty expansion as spare tiles or to be used for as base for own expansions?)

greetings

edit: just found out that this problem was already know...

Thanks Carcking,

I know I would loose again this merit point (like the 5 and the more than 106 postings in the past).

Hi Purity,

I called with Moritz Brunnhofer (HiG) some weeks ago.
I told him about the wrong Gingerbread Man tiles.
He explained me that a new production needs 6 to 8 weeks.
Now he is lucky, that the correct production was finished short
time before Christmas.
Many people had an interesting Christmas present.

If someone has questions about the rules
and needs some official clarification - please ask.

I'll call with HiG - Georg Wild - next week.

...you could ask him if he could assign klemens franz to design meeple sticker for the remaining meeple in the game (count, dragon, robber, barn, builder and so on). althought he told me that he will aks HiG when he meet the guys again, i don't think that it will bring any results :-)

This is a good question. I think that is something for Moritz Brunnhofer at HiG.

MrNumbers gave me some questions about the Minis.

Has anyone else any questions about the rules?

I will call next week with HiG.

Living like a meeple

Thanks so much for both of these. I was in Norway to visit my brother over Christmas and New Years. We picked up 5 of the minis and the Winter Edition. They didn't have rules in English so your files made it simple to understand. As we both play the minis with other expansions we're sure to have more questions then.

I was disappointed that they didn't so something to make the base meeples in the Winter Edition different. Give them all white Santa hats or a new colour scheme. Even make them shaped like snowmen. If could have allowed for some fun uses. As you find house rules for the animals in Winter edition could you add them in?

Thanks again

At BGG are some ideas of house rules for the wild animals:

winter Animals-Simple Variant by Neil Safi

Rules for the 12 animal tiles by Peter Andersson
-----------------------------
HiG asked the fans if they have some ideas for possible rules for the 12 wild animal tiles.

The Flyer can land outside the City of Carcassonne (outside of the walls).
The Flyer can also land outside the Wheel of Fortune and outside the school.

The important news are:
The follower who comes through the magic gate can deployed outside the City of Carcassonne (outside of the walls) and can also deployed outside the Wheel of Fortune and outside the school.

I had a telephone call with HiG - Georg Wild today.
--------------------------
The questions about the Mage and the Witch - are open.
I'll send HiG an e-mail.

Oh, that is good news. That is consistent with the dragon and plague being able to occupy those "tiles". Nice work Kettlefish!

My telephone call with Georg Wild - HiG
Some more information:

The Phantom and the magic gate
When the first Follower goes through the magic gate, then the Phantom can't go through as a second follower. The Phantom can only place at that tile.
The reason: The magic gate is a feature like a street.
The rule of the Phantom says that that figure is a follower.
A follower can placed at a open not claimed feature.

The Abbey as a second tile
At the beginning of playing sometimes a tile can't be placed. The player has the choice then to draw a new tile and places it or to places the Abbey tile.

The river II
The tile: GFluss5
That is a tile with a great bridge over the river and joined the city segment to one city feature.
The question at BGG was: How many fields are at the tile? Is the city-bridge separating the fields or is only the river separating the fields?

The answer:
Only the river is separating the field. At that tile are two different features of fields.
