Good day all

When you add together the 'official releases' there are about 200 tiles

On the 'home build' list, far more.

So how many can you reasonably add to a game? I have about 100-tiles worth picked out of interest.

The second question is, at some point do you reasonably add more meeples?

I know some of the expansions add a meeple, The Shepherd as one, but should general meeples be added at some point?

thanks all

Playing all of the expansions together ("mega carc" as its commonly known) makes for a very fun but long experience.  I've only tricked pursuaded people to do this with me a handful of times and there are more expansions now then there were then.  It is a lot of fun.  I think how many tiles is really dependent on what they are that are in the mix.  If its 100 extra vanilla tiles just to get more combos, it gets a little tiresome (the game can get repetative after 4 hours of play even with all the varied rules of the expansions).  So be sure that what you add will be mostly something worth going for, possible point options, and varied mechanics.  This keeps the game more energetic.

As for adding more meeples...I definelty use all the official ones when playing mega carc but i don't think i felt the need to add extra basic followers.  It really ups the decision making on careful placement.  Most followers you get back after a time but do I really commit a farmer now with 3 hours left to play?  That makes it pretty intense.  The additions of the large follower, wagon, mayor, and barn really do help you work it all out.

I think its about 200 tiles, not counting Wheel of Fortune if you have all the 'official sets'

I do not have Catapult, Tunnels or Crop Circles

I'd bet from here you could create 400 more, Forest basic is 150, which seems too large in my mind.

There are well over 500 tiles among the various expansions.  The Forest (with its expansions) being the largest but the mountains and oceans series are both very large as well.

I haven't made any of those sets not for lack of enjoying the mechanic but for lack of resources.  I've made a good number of the other expansions though and still have a list of about 200 tiles i'm hoping to make.

I believe that I have only ever added a meeple one time.  We used travel sized meeples on the scoreboard and put the 8th meeple in our supply along with the other "new" meeples.  This was, however, a 6 hour game of megacarc with about 300 tiles +/-.  I don't think it's really necessary to do so.  I think I also added the Shepherd (which should be a dedicated meeple, not just any one, I use one with a gold strip painted on the head, but hope to make new ones soon with crooks like in the picture) and the missionary disk so there are a couple more.  I'd have to get everything out and look at it to double check all that.

If you're looking for something different, I'd recommend Seasons to ad a new mechanic.  Actually, most all of JPutt's expansions ad something new and interesting, I've just yet to make any of them because they typically use non-standard sized tiles, but I hope to do so soon as well.  I've already determined that if I decided to use the forest, I'll pare it down significantly.  I bought 500 blank tiles from chri5lynn to make a bunch of them, but that is a project I've yet to start.

My wife & I play mega-carcassonne and use the following meeples:
5 Regular Meeples.
1 Mega Meeple
1 Mayor Meeple
1 Barn
1 Builder
1 Wagon

NOTE: Some of the expanions are somewhat neutered when you play mega-carcassone. Basically, the effect of the expansion or the scoring opportunity of the expansion is greatly reduced by the sheer number of tiles and the fact that the ratio of certain tiles changes dramatically. Just wanted you to be aware of that.
