I played my first game with the King's Gate today. It was a two-player game where I also introduced the Tunnel. It was a small game in which we used the base set, the River 1, GQ11, The King, The Tunnel, and The King's Gate.
The tiles came out fairly evenly distributed. My nephew claimed one city and closed it rather early with the King's Gate tile included. I drew the other tile and added it to a city I was building. He had two followers in his city and I only had one. It became a race to see if I could add it to another city of mine in which I had two followers giving me the majority before he could close me off. He was unable to stop me and I only drew the last tile I needed to connect on the very last draw. This connected the two cities giving me the majority, but not completing the city. Altogether I think it was around 30 points. Had I completed it, I would have won, but not doing so made my 10-year-old nephew the victor. I guess I should stop helping him!
