Hi there, as we know it, the games with the add-on of expansion takes more and more time to complete.

We try to find an other way to end the game without messing up the existing rules.

so i though about setting a Point Limit to "win the game"(a bit like in Zombies!!! if we can't get out from the Heli, you can win bt domination with 25 Zombies nailed!)

So i've set the 1st limit to 250 points... it takes a good amount of tiles(more than the 3/4 of the stack) did NOT ruin the game at all...

i also think that way, i culd easily add the complete set of tiles from the WoF and targetting the game limit of +/-300pts...

BUT... even if a player reach the limit, he he NOT assure of the victory, cuz, we end the game but we still count for the barn, king and robber barron farmers, etc, etc, etc... that way, the game is is fully used and exploited!!

any thoughts??

LCF = 57 + 3!!!

13 man on the field IS a penalty!!!!!(10 yards, automatic 1st down)

A match can never be ended on a defensive penalty!!!

I was wondering about farms, barns, robber, king, etc. before I got to that part. I think I like this idea. You can basically set roughly how long you want to play without breaking rules or anything. It also doesn't require a timer, although setting timed games is certainly another alternative. Nice idea. I approve (and may try it in a few weeks...)!

That's sort of how Settlers works. I think I would prefer a point limit over a time limit.

a time limit have more chance to "ruin" the game... with all he tile losses to count points due to the barns, WoF, farmers score expansion... those tricks take too much time to count/recount!! i woul keep the points limit only!

Playing like this, some options would become useless, like trading goods, farmers (if playing without the barn), king and robber, meeples frozen on unfinishable places, etc..

Don´t know how it would work, I would rather go for a time limit and then score the meeples on the board for unifnished stuff, think is fairer and goes more with the game theme.

Actually, both variants (the point limit and time limit) still would allow for final scoring. Those wouldn't be disregarded. Doing so would make the game worthless, as you say. The tile-lying portion of the game would simply end when the point limit was reached or the time limit expired. At that point, the current player finishes his/her turn and then players add up their final points, just like in the normal game. It basically would just mean that a bunch of tiles may still be unplayed.

Personally, I prefer the point limit option, but time limit works too if you need to do something in, say, an hour. Set the clock for 60 minutes and go! If you just are trying to avoid a 4 hours mega game, setting a point limit, like 250 points, would probably be better. The only major difference is that the point limit variant would be slightly more of a surprise when the game ends because someone could suddenly complete something major and bump him/herself over the limit. A timed game would be closest to the real game because you could see how much time is left, just like you can see how many tiles are left with no limits.

even if the goods are not all collected, we will STILL count the majority at the end of the game...

i admit that the time limit would work, but the time wasting ability of some component of the game will restrain the effiency of the time limit.

The only flaw that I see with this is whoever is nearing their score to the point limit may refrain from scoring any points to build up farms to ensure that they keep the lead when they do finally cross the point limit.  Other than that, it is a good variant.
