Everybody's always knocking the Catapult.  Come on now, it's that bad.  You know you love flipping that token wildly up in the air!  Not to mention the thrill of striking an opponent's meeple!  That's why I'm starting Catapult Lovers Likers Anonymous... (sorta, but not really).  Who'll be brave enough to join me, anonymously, of course?   Wink

Well, I personally won't join, but my *ahem* alias Dunkert Walesy will join your society of pseudo-anonymity. It is rather satisfying when that meep goes flying and dashes an opponent to bits. Of course, then it ricochets off the dragon and hits one of my meeps, my farmer for my huge field which then bounces into my knight for the huge city with a cathedral that I am one tile from finishing. Meanwhile, an opponent/enemy draws that last tile and completes my massive fortress of lost-i-tude which I spent half the game building while the next enemy/archrival claims the super-massive field with three dozen cities touching it. Gotta love the Catapult and randomness. And people say they don't want a dice variant for Carcassonne?! At least the odds are predictable!

It is not that The Catapult is bad in itself. It is just not something that fits the game Carcassonne. I love playing Pitchcar, where flying objects can generate much laughter. My meeples however - are not meant to go flying.

LMAO

Dice is definitely more predictable. Although the odds are pretty good with the catapult that the token will shoot mostly straight upwards and land within a few centimeters.

I'm in.  In fact, i'll go so far as to say that "i don't hate the catapult".  How's that for going out on a limb?  It's kinda fun,...sorta...sometimes.

My group is a bunch of guys that grew up on paper football and risk.  When we get together now, there is always some beer.  So, I actually do like the catapult, and so did my group.  We also play with the house rule that knock out can take out barns.

It's all in the positioning of the token on the catapult.  It takes skill.  Cool

Well, consider me one who actually *gasp* LIKES the catapult. I think it adds a nice way of breaking the game up and adding some excitement and laughter. And in fact, one can get quite skillful at it. I'm a fan.
