I've been wondering about how much of a difference the two sets of rules make from each other as far as getting points go.  Today, I played with two new people so we played the base set and the river.  I scored our normal colored meeple using the 1st edition rules, and then everyone had a color that we weren't using and used those to track our score for 3rd edition rules.  Although I lost track of how many times the meeples went around the scoreboard, with the 1st edition rules, I won by 5 points.  Using 3rd edition rules, I lost by 19 points.  The winning player in 3rd edition rules beat the winning player in 1st edition rules by 1 point.  The 3rd player had the same score becaues he didn't build any 2 tile cities and didn't play any farmers and the lack of farmers really hurt him in the end.

Has anyone else tried to score both sets of rules at the same time?
