This thread originally started off life in the Forest Fairy Tales thread.

Well, I think the Wonderful Wizard of Oz is now in public domain (since it's like more than 100 years old or something), I get to name an expansion after it.  The expansion will consist of characters and places from the land of Oz as told in the books by L. Frank Baum.

Tiles:

1. Dorothy & Toto on farm
2. Scarecrow on wheatfield
3. Tin Man next to road leading to hut in the forest
4. Lion next to road through forest
5. Poppy fields
6. Emerald cathedral in city
7. River with broken bridge
8. Farmhouse on field with red slippers
9. Flying monkeys along a road tile
10. Hot air balloon next to a cloister
11. Soldiers standing around a cauldron and a puddle of water next to a shrine
12. Some random road with yellow bricks in the middle and a tower.

These tiles may be played without the extra rules, or may be played with the rules that will come with the expansion.

The expansion will also have a Wizard meeple.  Joff, do you think I could use the Jester/Minstrel (the one with the pointy hat) image coloured purple to represent the wizard?

Dorothy... this was hard to draw... does either dorothy or toto look "Carcassonne-ish"?

Edit: This was done with GIMP instead of Photoshop BTW.  It's a lot different to use and probably took 3 times the time I would have taken with Photoshop, but it was a good learning experience.

Here are the suggestions for the special powers of the tiles:

Scarecrow: You may draw 1 tile and keep it in reserve.  During your turn, you may play the instead of drawing a tile from the supply.  If the supply runs out though, the game ends.
Lion: Any follower as a thief on this tile gets a +1 strength bonus, and counts as a builder
Cathedral: If you have one of your pieces (including the builder!) on the tile, your followers in this city cannot be removed by any other means (Tower, P&D, Gallows)

Suggestion for the Tin Woodsman tile: A woodsman placed on this tile counts as 2 followers (or 3 followers if it is a big follower).  The woodsman cannot be removed from the tile by any other means (with the exception of scoring the forest).

And here's tile #10 for Oz: Ding Dong, the witch is dead.

Draft suggestion for the Wizard (neutral meeple - one of the Jester and Minstrel meeples recoloured purple).

The wizard is enters play and is played onto the Emerald Cathedral after the Emerald Cathedral has been drawn and played.  The player who played the Emerald Cathedral may also place a follower onto the cathedral tile (part of the city).

The wizard:
1. Prevents the dragon from moving to the city containing the wizard (if the wizard is in an uncompleted city)
2. Prevents the dragon from entering the tile the wizard is on (including the tile containing the tower the wizard is on)*
3. Gives 5 points to the person who completed the city with a wizard in it, if the person who completed the city did not score any points by completing the city
4. Prevents a tower piece from being played on top of the wizard (if the wizard is on a tower foundation or tower)
5. Gives 2 point to all followers on an Oz tile (i.e. a tile included in this expansion) when the wizard moves to that tile.
6. Prevents the dragon from moving when it is on the same tile as the dragon*.
7. May share the same tile as a dragon*.
8. Cannot be removed by the dragon or the tower.
9. Cannot move to a square where the fairy is on.
10. Prevents the fairy from moving to the square that the wizard is on.

*The dragon may not move to a tile the wizard is on, but the wizard may move to a tile the dragon is on.

The wizard moves when:
a. The city which the wizard is on is completed and scored.
b. A tile with a city pennant (the blue and white shield) is drawn and played and scored.

The wizard can move to:
i. An uncompleted city where there are no followers on that tile segment.  If it does so, the city becomes the new emerald city
ii. A tower foundation
iii. A tower (either black or wooden, but not to a white tower)
iv. An Oz tile (i.e. a tile included in this expansion)
v. A tile with the dragon
vi. A tile which contains the wagon
vii. A tile with a magic portal icon

Finally, the last 2 tiles have been done.  I've replaced the hot air balloon with a magic portal instead.

Here are the draft rules.  Let me know if the lists are clear (in place of descriptions, which will take up a lot of room).  I will make them final by Monday if there are no further comments.
