I plan on attending BGG.CON this year. First time for me to attend a major gaming convention. I am sure it will be a bit daunting at first. Anyone here attending BGG.CON in Dallas, Texas this coming November? Perhaps a little Carcassonne game or two would be in order.

what goes on at these conventions?

Quilting? Plumbing Tips? How to renovate your home? Grooming tips for pets?...
...or, as I hope and anticipate: Lots of board gaming.

thats not really what I meant.. I was asking if more goes on then playing games. Like raffles, workshops to learn new games or to hear about upcoming games, vendors, game manufacture tables with swag?? things like this..

I would like to go but for the money it cost for the wife and me I better be getting something more than just playing a game or 2.

I was not trying to be flippant. Wish I could help, but I am a first timer for this event. I think if you are avid board gamers it is a great event. If you play just a few games, it may not be of value. I am excited to go. We own about 200+ games and I am amazed at the great games out there. This is an opportunity to try some new games, play some old faves, and meet some like-minded people.

Just got back from this event.

Played a TON of games.
Bought a TON of games.
Made a TON of friends.

This is a very well run event with lots of emphasis on fun, friendly, social gaming. Big thumbs up from me. I am going again next year!!!

There's always Essen Spieltag that occurs every October in.... Essen, Germany.  That's the famous boardgamers meet in Europe and in the whole world.  Anyone who is someone in the industry goes to Essen.

Always glad to help.  Anyways, back to the topic, did you get a chance to talk with Aldie, Bixby?  Did you get to meet up with Jay from RGG?  Was there any interesting announcement at BGG.con (yeah, I know it's probably on BGG if there was any).

I did meet Aldie & Derk. Great con. VERY friendly gaming. I will put this on my annual calendar. No major announcements that I got. Lots of gaming, lots of prizes, lots of vendors, and a kickin flea market.

Do you have any photos to share? Smiley  Did you manage to try out Catapult?

I do have photos but I have not uploaded them anywhere. There are some good photo sets loaded on the geek. Check them out.

I did see Catapult but I have made a personal vow never to touch, play with, look at, or ever contemplate buying that expansion. Smiley

Yes. I do understand you, Bixby. The Catapult made Carc an action game instead of a board game...
