Good evening,

First post and it's asking for help, i feel quite rude but i hope you can help me  Smiley

To be honest i'm a complete Carcassonne newbie, i only heard of the game a few weeks ago. I've been lurking on here every so often and first found out about about the X-Box live edition on here. My first game of Carcassonne was on the trial version. Unfortunately my cash flow is minimal at the moment so i'm saving up for the complete box set which i've seen for around £60, it's going to take a few weeks but i'll get it  Grin.

I have the original Carcassonne on the PC where i've been honing my skills. It works perfectly well apart from it randomely deletes my profiles when i exit the game (Have no idea why, but i've had issues like that with other games on Vista).

I recently bought the Collectors Edition for the PC, the game loads fine but the menu is very sluggish, the mouse moves extremely slowly and trying to click on buttons takes an age. It's quite puzzling as they're the same game, just with expansions.

I have Windows Vista Basic, all the latest windows updates, the latest direct x and graphics card drivers. It's quite puzzling as the original one

I understand none of you are technical support or Koch Media (Who i have emailed but have heard nothing back), but i was just wondering if any of you have had the same problems?

Thankyou for reading this and for your time Smiley

You say you have Vista with all the latest updates.... that could actually be part of the problem. The PC game was made sometime before Vista and does have a few hic-cups. I have the Collectors version and Hunters and Gathers does not run on vista  Cry

I have collectors edition also, running on Windows 7.  At first it wouldn't work, but managed to get it going after reading a topic about it on Board Game Geek.

Theres 3 topics, they all say the same thing prety much.  You have to get it to windowed mode.  From the menu, its in Options.

Hope you get it going.

Sorry I should of told you how I did it.  I deleted it off my Windows 7 computer.  Went back to my XP computer where it worked fine, and put it windowed mode.  Then instead of installing it again on Win 7, I just copied the files from the XP computer.  Alittle more work to open the game but works great.

Hope this helps.

It might be very useful... or as it happens, not even needed!! Our office is having a big PC refresh and selling off all the existing PC's with TFT screens and XP loaded for just £70.00 a go... So I've paid up and now just have to wait on delivery.  So I can put Caracassonne on there and not have to worry! Pretty much my reasoning for purchase as I've several bits of software and games that won't run under vista or 7.

Finally got round to installing the Collectors Box Edition and also Hunters & Gatherers onto my Windows 7 PC. Hunters works fine. However, I've got the jumping/sticking mouse problem in the Collectors Box andtotally unplayable as a result of it. I've also got my XP PC in another room and could install on there and do as you suggested.... How do I put it in Windowed mode? Is that an option within the program itself, or something I need to to do from Windows Explorer... All help much appreciated.

Cheers.

In the game itself.
From the main screen go to Options, then check the box for window mode.

Hope that helps
