While the Forums were off-line, I had to keep busy. One day I discovered a wooden table in the shed in our garden (we share the garden with the student dorm next to us). I asked them whether I could have the table, they agreed. First I decided to remove the old veneer, it was quite damaged. It took me several hours to get it off (in the end I used a drenched towel and an iron
). Since I often play Carcassonne with my roommates, I decided to make a Carcassonne table out of it.
First step, to find a high-res version of the Carcassonne Logo. I knew it was available at the downloads section. so that one wasn't hard. Next up: how to get the logo on the table? Unfortunately I don't own a beamer, so I decided to use carbon paper and trace the lines with a pencil. I printed a huge version of the logo (2 x 3 A4s) and put it on top of the carbon paper.
Quite some time later, the logo was finished but not very good visible yet.
I decided to use a marker to improve it.
The final step was to apply stain (hmm I didn't know this word. In Dutch it is "beits", Google suggested "Pickle"
).
Here it is:
You can notice a pile of pieces of veneer under the table, it gave an unbelievable mess in my room (it was way too cold to work outside). I think it took me about 10 hours to make it this way, starting with the removal of the veneer. I'm glad with the result and so are my roommates, it definitely adds something to the game.
