So I was thinking. I have a bandsaw and a table jig saw. I have wood. Do you guys think it would be cool to play with extended length bridges? Double? Triple? Where do I stop?

haha Smiley that sounds like fun. But, when you think it over there might ne a nice mechanic there for an expansion.  :Smiley Thinking out loud: Have the players built their extended brigdes, each player should have 2ea sloping bridge pieces (all you need to fabricate) t.i. a start and a finish bridge wood.

Bridges can be built as long as the player desires, must start with 1 sloping wood to indicate extended bridge. Bridgewood is to be placed instead of follower or tower wood etc.. A bridge is finished by placing the second sloping bridge wood. Obviously the best way to build the longest bridge is going out of the game as a tile w.o. road could block the bridge that is built. Bridge can be finished only after drawing a road tile. (so this tile can be only attached to the bridge end)

Maybe a base to have this going somewhere you hadn't thought of.

I have come across the situation where a bridge couldnt be placed not because of illegal features on the tile or the tile next to it but because tiles further away maid the bridge unplaceable.

your double etc bridges coulde overcome this, provided there were a string of such bridge landing spots

I think it would be cool

you could start with 1 of each extended bridge in supply

have you considered "corner" bridges?

my the possibilities

but as trebuchet points out there could be a cost factor

you could have a free bridge placement per turn and a "move the wood" bridge placement as an extra.

I wanted to make extended bridges exactly for the reason of branching over say a football city  or anoter two tile wide feature.

I have thought of corner bridges and it is a bit mor work but i could pull it off. If you are going to go that far we could start talking aboutall sorts of diagonal bridges but i will stick to the basic corner and double perhaps tripple bridges max.

I would treat them as regular bridges, you wouldnt get alot of them so its not a ton of free points or anything it will just help make for some interesting plays.

The slope idea is interesting but I don't think it would be compatable with alot of tiles, i think that is why the original ones are shaped the way they are.

WHILE IM AT THE JIG SAW MAYBE I WILL MAKE SOME TROLL MEEPLES AND SEE IF AN EXPANSION HAPPENS LOL.

diagonal bridges 7mm wide seem a little skinny.

a double bridge that soars over the castle walls, sounds cool but imagine all those travellers dropping rocks down on top of the castle:)

just things to think on.
