Hi

There is a fan set with four troll tiles and following rule

Ice Troll Bridge
Any good bridge needs a troll (ok, maybe any bad bridge). If an ice troll bridge is on a player’s completed road they get half the points (round up). Don’t complete the road and get zero points. This only counts on the roads with bridges on them (not roads going under the bridge).

What would the impact of each player simply getting a "Treeple" *smile A Troll piece which the could deploy on any bridge tile they place?

They would get back at completion of a road.

Interesting.  Kinda like the anti-Inn.  Hadn't really looked at the rules for that one before.  I'm not sure about giving everyone one of those though.  I think I'd like it better if there were just one of them and it were a neutral piece, like the dragon/fairy, and abailable to the whoever gets a tile it works on (similar to the Missionary or leper placement).

A new meeple would make it an expansion rather than a variant regardless.

I'm all for more meeples.

one would have sooooo little impact wouldn't be worth using

sort of like dragon in bigger games, ends up being pretty ineffective

Also as I think about it, I rather doubt one troll each would greatly impact game

That's not necessarily a bad thing.  The dragon is a single piece and it can have plenty of impact on the game.  There are often complaints about expansions that are too aggressive.

The Dragon is less impactful on larger games

Sort of like the 'Giant' idea. They'd move around a lot chasing a dragon that pops away to another volcano

So what expansions have the 'too aggressive' rep? I am curious as I start to plan making 240 tiles worth  Grin

Well, the Tower get aggression complaints I guess and if you every played against my wife, she'd surely complain about any attempt at any hostile takeover tactics.

Yeah, doesn't bother me either.  It's part of the game.
