Wagon move

Using Abbey and Mayor extension, If a road is completed on which a wagon stands by a tile with part of a city on it, can the player both place a follower on the part of the city on the tile last placed as well as roll the wagon down to claim a partly started city at the other end of the road ? I thought not.

I believe so. Draw and place a tile, then choose to deploy a follower.  Next do the scoring, and finally, if the wagon was in a scoring feature, then you may move the wagon to claim a connecting road, city or cloister.

Yes, it can be done. The Wagon's movement is made after scoring has taken place. So, the turn order would therefore be:

1. Place tile
2. Move the wood (play followers to the tile)
3. Score completed features (in this case the completed road)
4. Move the Wagon from the completed feature to an adjacent incomplete and unoccupied feature, or remove it back to your supply.

Also, if you placed a tile that completes an unclaimed feature, you could place your wagon to claim that feature. Then you'd get points for it as normal, and finally you could move the just-placed wagon to a connecting feature!  So essentially, you can claim two things in one turn with the same piece!

This is also a possibility.

The Wagon is a very powerful piece whichever way one looks at it. It is a good idea to watch where your opponents Wagon is placed and not to let some easy points slip due to the Wagons movement power. Of course, for you, the wagon can give you points throughout the game if you use it well. It can roll on, complete, roll on, complete, roll on, complete, etc (if you get it right) all for free!
