I attach the following picture of our most recent game involving the wells, there was some contention as to whether black scored 16 or 17 your comments would be welcome.

I see 16. Any tile with any road segment on it can only be scored once no matter how many times the same person's road crosses that tile. The 90 degree turn to the right of the bridge does not count because it is not part of the road. There are 13 tiles with connecting road segments and 3 wells. That adds up to 16 in the U.S. By the way, that's a really nice road. Too bad there's no inn on it!

I count 13 road segments too +3 for the wells. I agree, too bad no Inns. Would have been a beautiful win.

No, I think 13 - the tile 3 rows down and second column in is not connected to the rest of the road.

It is a road made up of 13 tiles, plus 3 points using the Wells expansion. So total score would be 16 points.

No, I think 13 - the tile 3 rows down and second column in is not connected to the rest of the road. You would be absolutely correct except that this is the fan-made wells expansion. The wells on a road count similar to pennants in a city.

Thanks everyone, The tile that caused the confusion was the crossroad 3 tiles down from the 4 way roundabout the argument was that although it was considered a single road it also terminated at 2 different locations and as a crossroad denotes the end of a road therefore the 2 ends are seperate roads despite the fact that they are on the same tile. The counter being that this argument is only logical if you start counting at the 2 well roundabout not if you count from the crossroad when it becomes a single loop starting and ending on the same tile. So far we have been playing to the wells rules but feel that it might be more challenging to have the rule that only wells on complete roads are scored seting this expansion half way between standard road scoring and roads with inns.

The reason wells still score on an incomplete road is because pennants in cities do
