Title: Misplaced tiles and/or followers
Post by: Ekman on April 07, 2009, 11:25:20 pm
Once in a while we discover that a tile has been incorrectly placed, ie. road and no road sides together.  If it has been several turns around the table and other tiles have been played ont he misplayed tile how do you retify the error?  Also occasionally we find a farmer who is on a barned farm and don't know when it happened so are not sure how many cities were complete when the farm was barned.  Is there any rule as to how to handle those situations?

Not sure if there is anything official, but we always keep the incorrect tile in place.

Yeah, what else can you do?  ::)
If it is one or two turns back I guess You could take the moves back.  :)
But in principle I think it is everyones responsibility to check that no illegal moves are made.

I'd keep the tiles in play as well, and score the followers as soon as they are discovered.

This has happened to us occasionally.  We just keep the misplaced tiles where they are.

In the case of a missed farmer on a field that been barned, we just scored the farmer as soon as we discovered it even though there probably had been several cities completed that the farmer shouldn't have scored for.  I think that mistake has only happened to us once though.

We tend to miss scoring the fairy all the time too.  If someone forgets that they get the point, too bad...
I really don't like the whole fairy scoring anyway.  I need to find some other function for the fairy that I can be happy with.

I like the fairy scoring, but we also forget to score it and move it too.  I guess it takes some getting used to.  We have adopted the rule that if you miss it, you loose it.  However, if someone can substantiate were they might have moved the fairy on a recent turn, we usually let them.

I think I can honestly say that we haven't had to deal with a misplaced tile.

We always seem to forget to add the fairy points more often than remember them :)
