Title: Anatomy of a Game: Carcassonne by Shannon Appelcline Post by: Novelty on February 13, 2009, 06:17:53 am Apologies if this is too much like an advert. I came across this series of articles on Boardgame News and enjoyed reading it and I would just like to share it with the people here who haven't read it, particularly those who are interested in designing expansions and variants. It's a really good read IMO.

Title: Re: Anatomy of a Game: Carcassonne by Shannon Appelcline Post by: edmil on March 01, 2009, 03:11:17 am Certainly an interesting analysis of the game and it's expansions. I can see where he is coming from with the ratio information -
I wonder what the fan made expansions would do to these mixes. Might have to try out the calculations. Title: Re: Anatomy of a Game: Carcassonne by Shannon Appelcline Post by: kayl on March 01, 2009, 09:33:19 pm Great article, thanks!
Title: Re: Anatomy of a Game: Carcassonne by Shannon Appelcline Post by: Kanomike on March 10, 2009, 05:38:22 am I foudn this really interesting. Shame the fifth article that is mentioned doesn't appear anywhere; might be worth doing the same calculations / ration checks for all the expansions and see what the results are. I certainly find that when playing with the kids they far prefer the less competitive versions and has helped steer my descision on what order to get the different expansions and also what player made expansions to spend the time making.
