Title: ULTRA-Carcassonne Post by: dustyu on February 10, 2009, 08:16:21 pm My friends and I have been playing Mega-Carcassonne almost every Sunday for the last few years. Over the years, we've added the new expansions, removed features we didn't care for(city, catapult, barns) and even created quite a few homebrew rules. Now we're looking to take Carc to the next level. We've been talking about it for a long time and have finally set a date for ULTRA-CARCASSONNE. Three complete sets of mega-carc combined into one massive game. 694 tiles of gaming greatness! The five of us have cleared our schedules and picked the date of 2/18.
We just have a few rules to work out and I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else has ever attempted this and could give us some suggestions. Here are the game features we plan to use. Tiles to be Used 3x Carcassonne (72) = 216 3x The River (12) = 34 (-2 river starts) 3x The River II (12) = 36 3x Inns & Cathedrals (18) = 54 3x Traders & Builders (24) = 72 3x King & Robber Baron (5) = 15 3x Princess & Dragon (30) = 60 3x The Tower (18) = 54 3x The GQ11 Expansion (12) = 36 3x Abbey and Mayor (12) = 36 3x Abbey tiles (5) = 15 3x Cult Seige Creativity (10) = 30 3x The Catapult (12) = 36 TOTAL = 694 Game Pieces to be used per player 10x Small meeples 1x Big meeple 1x Builder 1x Pig 1x Wagon 1x Mayor 21x Tower pieces 3x Abby tiles 3x Fairies 3x Dragons 1x King tile 1x Robber Baron tile No City, Count, or Barn Special Rules • No points for having fairy on turn to ease scoring, but fairies can still be moved for Dragon protection • Only one dragon will be played on the river. Additional dragons will be played when a volcano is drawn until all 3 dragons are in play. • Each time a dragon tile is pulled, each dragon will move 8 spaces. • Owner(s) of King and Baron tiles at end of game receives +25 each. Done to ease scoring • Winner of the Wheat, Barrels, and Ribbons receives +25 each • When a tile is played that is close to the edge of the table, a decision must be made if there is room for another tile. Majority rules. If a city can’t be completed due to the edge of the table, it is treated as a broken city and scored accordingly. We had quite a bit of discussion on the number of small meeples, dragons, and abbey tiles to be used. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to return and post our results along with a few pictures. Title: Re: ULTRA-Carcassonne Post by: crasher on February 11, 2009, 10:15:48 am Sounds like fun. They way I've done this in the past is that each player has their own copy of each game/expansion. That means that every player has equal access to each tile. Of course the last time I actually played this was with Traders and Builders (Yes I have 6 copies of all the expansions).
Title: Re: ULTRA-Carcassonne Post by: Novelty on February 12, 2009, 06:58:09 am I'm hoping to get enough tiles so that I can make most the fan-made expansions on this site (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=49&Itemid=62), especially the Forests and Fishermen fan-made expansions and all the "dependents". That would be my version of ultra-Caracassonne!
Title: Re: ULTRA-Carcassonne Post by: edmil on February 16, 2009, 09:27:47 pm Sounds like mega fantastic. Maddie and I have played a couple of games with most of the expansions.
We played one the other night and added in the fan made expansions: The gold mines, the Minstrel & Jester - so the Fair tiles were added and I also added my own Knights & Scholars to test play that one. Must say it was a lot of fun but you certainly need to be on your toes to keep up with the scoring and all the different moves. i.e Minstrel & Jester, Fairy, and dragon we were also going to add the leper but decided against it. I have just finished creating the Forest tiles (all 150) I ended buying a couple more Carcassonne games for the tiles. Cheaper to buy the whole game than the smaller expansions. |
