Title: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 07:52:13 am very first draft of these tiles
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b183/pspfriekie/wheat01copy.jpg) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on October 20, 2008, 07:55:23 am I'm not sure I can tell that's wheat... it doesn't stand out too much. I think it needs to be brighter.
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 08:16:49 am so you'd prefer a much brighter yellow ??
something like this ?? (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b183/pspfriekie/wheat01nbcopy.jpg) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on October 20, 2008, 08:18:28 am That looks a lot better! Good job! How many tiles are you making? 12?
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 08:20:51 am I think 12 yep. same as the lavendar fields
thinking of adding some sort of token, not sure yet Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on October 20, 2008, 08:21:24 am I would say no tokens. Otherwise there will be too many tokens in the game :)
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 08:26:13 am rules idea .
To be played together with merchants and traders expansion. when placing the tile connected to a city with a wheat token on it, you get 5 points, otherwise no points. Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on October 20, 2008, 08:28:50 am I thought the wheatfield idea was like lavender, but for cloisters instead? i.e. if you place a wheatfield next to a cloister, you get a double turn?
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 08:31:02 am that's a good idea as well. than we can use my idea for the combination vineyards and barreltokens
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on October 20, 2008, 08:36:36 am I thought vineyards are for shrines? i.e. if you place a vineyard next to a shrine, you get a double turn?
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 08:39:16 am will think of something else for the shrines. perhaps sunflower fields or something like that
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Scott on October 20, 2008, 09:04:47 am Just to add to the confusion, I thought vineyards were going to be for cloisters, since monks make wine.
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on October 20, 2008, 09:48:27 am monks also make beer... using wheatsorts ..lol....confusion complete ;-)
I'm gonna make the tiles first, than the rules :-) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Cappy on October 20, 2008, 05:50:39 pm Heh. Well, whichever goes for whatever, I much prefer the second draft with the brighter wheat. If you can avoid the use of tokens, that would be nice.
Or... any thoughts on combining wheat with the wheat trade counter from T&B and vineyards with the wine barrels? Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on November 09, 2008, 09:03:33 am How goes the wheatfield tiles? I can't wait to see how these tiles will turn out.
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on November 09, 2008, 09:48:00 am still a work in progress. I need to do some work on them...not as easy as I thought it would be =-)
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on November 10, 2008, 07:48:26 pm Let me know if you need help with these. I'm not sure I can make the tiles as good as you though!
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on November 15, 2008, 10:52:56 am 4m still struggling with health issues, so not much computer time
if you want to give it a go, just go ahead and do it...lol...I do not even want credits for the idea...lol... Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on November 15, 2008, 11:01:51 am LOL,
This can wait if you don't have the time to do it especially if you are not well. I think you should be the one working magic on the tiles. Get well soon! I look forward to that :) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on March 03, 2009, 03:34:58 am after months of absence I finally started working on my wheat tiles again
hope to be able to show you something soon :-) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on March 03, 2009, 03:57:08 am Welcome back, S! I hope we will have something interesting to see soon!
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: CKorfmann on March 30, 2009, 05:12:22 pm I think these look great!
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on March 31, 2009, 02:41:38 am I give up on these. If any one else wants to design these tiles , pleqe feel free to do so. I just cannot get them right. I keep making tiles and deleting them...over and over again...
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: CKorfmann on March 31, 2009, 01:12:20 pm That's a shame, I think they look great. Are you still working on the vineyard?
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 01, 2009, 09:10:56 am I really like this:
(http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b183/pspfriekie/wheat01nbcopy.jpg) And it's a pity that you can't recreate it. The best I can come up with is this: (http://www.dukenostalgia.com/carc/images/scarecrowtest.jpg) Not quite up to your standards I think. I know it's frustrating that you are creating and deleting it again and again, but at least you know what you did the first time around (perhaps you could let me know how to recreate it?). Well, take your time and don't give up hope. Perhaps you'll be able to recreate this again in future. Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: chr15lynn on April 01, 2009, 03:43:38 pm wheatfield?
(http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/1025/wheatfield1copy.jpg) edit: here is a slightly different version: (http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/259/wheatfield2copy.jpg) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on April 02, 2009, 02:20:16 am I used the Grass brush that comes standard with photoshop
than added drop shadow, inner glow, outer glow, bevel but didn(t write them down...sadly enough I love the idea of putting a scare-crow in the filelds Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 02, 2009, 08:48:01 am Wellidesigns, what do you think of this?
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on April 16, 2009, 02:46:01 pm Novelty, I think these look fantastic. Perhaps adding a scarecrow or a horse and plow finished the tiles
love them.... Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: meepleater on April 16, 2009, 05:40:18 pm I know I'm a bit late, but:
http://s585.photobucket.com/albums/ss294/meepleater/?action=view¤t=wheatfield.jpg Novelty's is probably better... Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: metoth on April 16, 2009, 05:48:34 pm I know I'm a bit late, but: http://s585.photobucket.com/albums/ss294/meepleater/?action=view¤t=wheatfield.jpg Novelty's is probably better... I think I like this version of the wheat fields best. Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 16, 2009, 07:55:04 pm A, I think you need to make the wheat darker to stand out, and probably shade parts of it close to orange as well so that it looks better. I think chr15lynn is working on making his tiles better as well. Well, we shall see what happens!
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: meepleater on April 16, 2009, 07:58:04 pm Mmm... I thought it looked a bit too yellow...
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: chr15lynn on April 17, 2009, 02:40:25 am Yes, I've been working on some tiles...... HERE (http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/438/amtiles1withwheatfiels2.jpg) is the latest (with watermark) :)
Thoughts? Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 17, 2009, 03:02:48 am That is really nice. Good job Chr15lynn. If you can make 11 more tiles, I'll create the rules document to go along with it!
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: chr15lynn on April 17, 2009, 03:07:27 am That is really nice. Good job Chr15lynn. If you can make 11 more tiles, I'll create the rules document to go along with it! Thanks! Out of the 12 A&M tiles some are not suitable to fit a wheatfield onto......should I keep it to 6 tiles or stray to another expansion in order to make up 12? Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 17, 2009, 03:45:34 am Pick any 12 for it. Just make sure the picture quality of the original tiles is as good as the A&M tiles :)
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on April 17, 2009, 09:34:46 am can I say I just LOVE these !!!
you made exactly what I had in mind !!! AWESOME !!!! Yes, I've been working on some tiles...... HERE (http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/438/amtiles1withwheatfiels2.jpg) is the latest (with watermark) :) Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 26, 2009, 07:58:49 am The wheat fields are intended to be trade goods, right? What will the token graphic be? Maybe, maybe not. Probably not. What they will be is something that gives a double turn to a meeple on a cloister. Here are the draft rules (http://www.dukenostalgia.com/carc/expansions/wheatrules01.pdf). Edit: Should multiple breweries score the +2 bonus, or should it only be one for each corresponding wheatfield tile? I'm tending towards multiple breweries even if there is only 1 wheatfield tile... A, what's your opinion? Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: CKorfmann on April 26, 2009, 02:47:10 pm After reading the Vineyard rules, I thought they might be more like those. i.e. "stealing" wheat tokens from adjacent newly completed cities. This seems like it would work find though.
As for the double turn (and this question applies to all double turn tiles/icons) is this a double turn every time you add to the feature, like with a builder, or is it just one double turn when you place the tile? Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: meepleater on April 26, 2009, 06:48:04 pm I reckon they need one wheat field each, because they already give a good bonus to cloisters and we don't want the points to become too easy... that's just my opinion...

This seems like it would work find though. Those are not CC-developed rules. We can't copy something that belongs to someone else and not developed on this site, without their permission or we will be accused of plagarising. As for the double turn (and this question applies to all double turn tiles/icons) is this a double turn every time you add to the feature, like with a builder, or is it just one double turn when you place the tile? Read the rules carefully. Each one is different and triggers the double turn at the appropriate condition.I reckon they need one wheat field each, because they already give a good bonus to cloisters and we don't want the points to become too easy... that's just my opinion... OK, will probably add to the rules in the next update. The problem is that breweries (and your expansions in general) are already too good and that it is difficult to add to them.Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: chr15lynn on April 29, 2009, 12:16:55 am Here are the finished Wheatfield tiles.....I'll email the .pdf's to you Novelty.
Hope you guys like them :) (http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/1/wf1u.th.jpg) (http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wf1u.jpg) (http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2822/wf2.th.jpg) (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wf2.jpg) I'll also make a tuckbox for them later this week or this weekend. Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on April 30, 2009, 12:04:58 pm Merit point given to Chr15lynn. I'll put the documents for public downloads on Friday (or earlier if I get the time).
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: wellidesigns on May 19, 2009, 03:41:46 am are they already up for download ? I can't seem to find them
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on May 19, 2009, 04:27:32 am I'm still waiting for Chr15lynn to send me the completed files. He's gone missing for some reason. I hope we didn't scare him away.
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: meepleater on May 19, 2009, 05:21:48 am I've been wondering what had happened to this... is there an email address or anything?
Title: Re: wheatfields Post by: Novelty on May 19, 2009, 10:15:32 am I think he's just busy. I think he also travels quite a bit. Well, let's have some patience with this. If there's nothing in 2 months then I'll see what I can do...
Edit: Since I've finished Trifecta and was updating the other pages, I thought I might as well get this one done as well by resizing the tiles to the print at 100%. |
