Title: Fruit Trader Post by: Novelty on October 07, 2008, 02:28:23 am I was seaching for images for trade tokens when I came upon this variant. It's created by a guy called Jonathan Wu (maulei on BGG). I think it's quite good. Has anyone played with it?
Also, I was wondering if Joff has the rules setup in his nice format ;D ;D ;D I also sent the guy an email to invite him here... Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Maulei on October 07, 2008, 04:36:36 am Hi Novelty, this is me. (Jonathan)

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you'll spend more time here in future.
Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Joff on October 07, 2008, 08:39:14 am No, I have not done these rules. My next project perhaps? :)
Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Cappy on October 09, 2008, 09:58:00 pm Yeah, Fruit Traders is on the top of my list, right there with Forests, to print out once I get the Carcassonne Tile Printing Line in working order.

My next project perhaps? :) Yes pleaseTitle: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: wellidesigns on October 15, 2008, 03:19:51 am I really love this expansion, just feeling a bit partial about the pineapple.
I'd replace them by Cavaillons or oranges or something more typically french. (http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/651999/2/istockphoto_651999-cavaillon-melon.jpg) Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Cappy on October 15, 2008, 09:58:41 am You know, I've thought long and hard about replacing the pineapple when I print my set out (I know...only a gamer would expend any brain power on such a thing ::) ), but I finally decided to keep Maulei's original fruit because it's just so... out of place that it's actually quite whimsical.
Besides, I plan to sneak a few apples into the forest (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=473) (as simply more Fruit Trader tokens) and I liked the symmetry of pineapples and apples. Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Novelty on October 15, 2008, 10:47:07 am Oooh, the poisoned apple tree! Then we can have Adam and Eve and the Serpent, Snow White and the Wicked Witch and all sorts of fun with a new expansion. Cappy you should really make that as a variant! Let me know if you need me to help out with the tiles :)
Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Scott on October 15, 2008, 11:06:44 am I was debating whether to post this link, because it sort of competes with Fruit Trader, but I think to leave it out of the discussion would not be good either.

Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Scott on October 15, 2008, 02:46:21 pm Yes, I was aware. The talk about alternative fruits made me think of it.
Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Cappy on October 15, 2008, 03:15:06 pm Maulei, I'm curious: why did you create the mechanic that allows a player to immediately trade away his pineapple token for another trade token? Not that it's a bad rule, I was just wondering what your thoughts behind it were.
I'm wondering if it might not be useful to apply such a house rule to all trade goods. Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Novelty on October 25, 2008, 10:08:08 am Maulei, I sent you a private message regarding this game, just in case you haven't already seen it yet.
Edit: Maulei's expansion page (http://jhywu.tripod.com/FruitTrader.htm), rules (http://jhywu.tripod.com/Fruit_Trader.htm) and download (http://jhywu.tripod.com/FruitTrader10.zip). Title: Re: Fruit Trader Post by: Novelty on October 26, 2008, 07:41:52 am And here's the rules (http://www.dukenostalgia.com/junk/fruittraderrules01.pdf) updated for CC with the permission of Maulei! If there's nothing by Sunday, I'll package this up for downloads on the completed expansions page!
