Title: Comedy custom tiles
Post by: Novelty on September 23, 2008, 09:39:11 am
I found this (http://www.io.com/~beckerdo/games/articles/CarcassonneLostTiles.html) online today.  It's called the Lost tiles of Carcassonne (http://www.io.com/~beckerdo/games/articles/CarcassonneLostTiles.html) and it seems funny.  My favourite tile is this one:

The Donut Road tile is invented just for laughs. We always got a chuckle when someone formed a multiple tile circular road. This is that idea carried to the extreme. As is with the multiple tile circular road, you can always ask the player "are you going to place a farmer in there?" Ha, ha, I love Carcassonne humor. The Toxic Donut Road tile is a similar idea. Perhaps the skull can serve as a reminder to new players, "Warning, do not place a meeple here. It will score you no points." Both versions are given for your edification.

You lost me there.  What is a "squelett head"?  Also, the article does not mention such a thing.  Are you sure you're replying to the correct post?

He means 'skeleton head', I think. Skeleton is 'Skelett' in German, for example.

Anyways, back to the topic... the tile I showed in the previous thread was the second skull tile on that page.  There is another skull tile there as well, but it's not that funny and it may be way too powerful.

There's also this weird tile:

Finally I include the Carcassonne Crossdresser tile. This tile is useful for any Carcassonne expansion rules in which you want to include cross-dressers. Perhaps the cross-dressers would prevent all adjacent farmers from farming since they are busy dressing or saying "What the heck?" Perhaps the cross-dressers would foil highway thieves and other bad men as did Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot with Marylin Monroe. Sure, the original game has no rules provisions for cross-dressers, but perhaps that's just what the game needs to make it better. Then again, I've been know to say a few things that make no sense. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy these tiles and they are useful to expand your play of the fantastic game Carcassonne or they spur your imagination on to come up with some tile ideas of your own.

Which is just weird.  Anyways, can you think of a better comedy tile?  Feel free to post your suggestions at the Request for custom tiles (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/forum/index.php?topic=285.105) and I'll see what I can do to mock up a funny tile.

No offense man but your english is not the best and alot of your posts the grammar is not so great so it is hard to understand at times. Hey I barely speak a second language as well so I understand how hard another language is.

Deatheux, I know you are banned for 2 weeks, but you should still be able to read the post (I think).  Go to my original post in this tread and click on the link there.  It will take you to the comedy tile page with all the other tiles that were made by that guy.  The site also use the term skull, not "squelett", BTW.  My apologies if this post sounds condensending, but I really have no idea if you have even read the page we are discussing about and your posts indicate that you probably haven't.

djwurm, English is not my first language as well, nor Tobias', yet there aren't anyone complaining about not being able to understand us.

And back to the topic, I wonder who are those people in the crossdresser tile.  I wonder if we can have a "Carcassonne Central" tile ... and who would we put on it.  Hmm...

Really?? I would have never known! You guys have a better grasp at english then I do! I speak Texan most of the time. Its english with a southern draw and we use words like fixinto, howdy, yall, cowpoke.. things like that. And yes I do own a pair of cowboys boots!

I am also surprised. I would have guessed that Novelty and Tobias were English speakers! They both have a very good grasp of written English. :)

I was thinking about having warrens on the farms... warrens, are holes where animals like foxes stay in.  I have no idea what warrens will do, perhaps counter a farm or something.  Anyways here's a farm with a warren:

;D  And if you don't get it, I'll let for Joff to explain :)

Warrens house predators, which prey on livestock, thereby reducing the effectiveness of farms (assuming the farm is used to produce livestock). You could use a field with a warren to add to an opponent's farm, might be a good way to combat giant farms where you aren't able to out-farmer her. Or perhaps kill pigs...

Heh, I'm sure Joff would be thrilled to read that :)

This is the comedy tile thread gantry, not the variants forum.  I have no intention of making any further warren tiles :)

The surname Warren comes from those that hunted livestock that was considered a nuisance (eg: rabbits, hares, foxes, cats, sorry, my daughter will not allow the last animal to be considered a nusiance :)) and rid them off the land, or a gamekeeper. Hence, the term 'warrener'.

Ok... All players start with a 'warrener' tile, in a similar way to having an Abbey tile. On his turn the player may use the 'warrener' instead of drawing a tile (like the use of the Abbey). The warrener can only be placed in a hole (same way as an Abbey is played) and brings roads and cities to an abrupt halt, but not farms. The player that places the warrener on his farm scores an immediate 100 points, in addition to any farmers points (of his colour) already on the field (as long as the field is complete). If there are other farmers of an opposing colour in the field, they are counted as minus points for that colour (minus 3 points per completed city, when the field is complete). Only players that have the 'official' surname of 'Warren' are allowed to use the tile. All other uses are illegal and lose that player 100 points.

How's that for a variant? I think this a good idea :) ;) ;D

Edit: BTW, thought i'd better explain, my surname is indeed Warren ;)

My wife's maiden name is Warren. She is a VERY good shot when we play paintball. I see the connection now. :)

I just hope that I never get classified as a nuisance as you put it, or perhaps I maybe subject to a visit from the "Warrener". :D

Thanks for the lexicon lesson.

A mobius loop road tile would yield an infinite number of points. ;D
