Title: Inns & Cathedrals - Road scoring question
Post by: jackdaddyt on April 27, 2008, 04:36:07 pm
I'm a newbie with a scoring question.  The picture is (obviously) for illustration of the question.

My wife and I ran into a situation similar to this one last night.

In the photo, the top center tile is placed on red's turn.  Both east and west roads are claimed by red, both east and west roads are completed with placement of the tile showing intersecting roads.

One follower can be placed once the tile has been placed - it would go on the southbound road.

How does this score?

Does the intersection tile count only once in the scoring of the three roads?

-OR-

Does it count the applicable points for each of the three road sections, ultimately being worth a total of 4 points (1 for the east road, one for the south road, and two for the west road)?

I've read through the annotated rules (a most interesting read!), and have not come up with any definitive answer.

Thanks for the help.

red would score 2 times, 1x road count double(due to the "inn"), the other road witn a few single points, and the third(southern) can be scored at 2 points  by blue or yellow(hatever the other colour you played).

When scoring roads, you get one point per tile contributing to the road, i.e. the intersection will be scored once for each of the three roads.

Ok. The Red meeple on the Eastbound road would score 3 points for Red. The meeple just placed on the Southbound road would score 2 points for the player who placed the meeple. You say that Red also had a meeple on the Westbound road. If so, Red would also claim 6 points (the 'Inn on the Lake' giving 2 points per tile making up the road). As Diminuendo stated, you score once for each tile making up a road (this also applies to cities). In this case the intersection tile can be claimed by three different players, should they occupy the roads in question, as the intersection tile forms part of each of their roads :)
