Title: 2 or 4 point? Post by: quevy on February 26, 2012, 05:13:43 am I have an old version of Carcassonne which I had not played until a few months ago.
On reading my rules say that a city consists of only two cards worth only 2 points given the ease of creating it, as I recently gave my cousin the regulation does not say that. Playing car on my phone, I noticed that too, is to receive 4 points. Regulation of my box is wrong? EDIT:I had thought to consult the English rules on the site, it took my doubts, 4 points. I'm sorry I played so wrong this time. I can show you just scanned the regulation that says that ... Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Post by: Fritz_Spinne on February 26, 2012, 05:29:56 am There are old and new rules:
Old rules: little cities (of 2 tiles) score only 2 points, bigger 2 points per tile. New rules: the tiles of every city are 2 points worth. Almost all players play with this 3rd edition rules. In addition the scoring for the fields is different as well. Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Thanks for the information :) Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? I discovered later, but not too much. :D Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Post by: Khonnor83 on February 26, 2012, 04:42:48 pm Even though we have the new edition with adjusted rules, we still play as a house rule that 2-tiled cities only score 1 point per tile as we call them "Lazy Cities".
Today I received The Discovery stand-alone and funny enough it's a rule in that one to only score 1 point per tile for a 2-tile city. Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Post by: dacfortuny on March 08, 2012, 04:47:14 pm Hi everyone!
My doubt here is why it changed for scoring 2 points to scoring 4 points per small city. I understood that completing a two-tile city had no enough merit to worth the double punctuation. This is actually the rule that appears in the Spanish (at least) 10th anniversary edition. I know that in the CAR it says clearly that the valid option is the "4 points", and I will use this rule in the future, but I would really like to understand what caused this change in the rules. Thanks!! Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Post by: Carcking on March 08, 2012, 08:00:04 pm First off - welcome to the forum! Glad to have you on.
Scoring for the two-tile city is somewhat controversial. The rule changed officially with the release of the 3rd addition rules. 1st addition is 1 point per tile. 3rd addition is 2 points per tile. Many do not understand why HiG changed the rule, my self included, and continue to play as 1 point per tile. There does not seem to be logic for scoring 2 points per tile for a "lazy" city. It is a matter of preference for a lot of players. Some want balance in the scoring of the game, some want devotion to the official rules. My personal preference is to not promote the construction of many small cities on farms (as many times farm scoring is unbalanced as it is). If a player will build many small cities on his farm he should not also get 4 points for each one. Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Title: Re: 2 or 4 point? Post by: Scott on March 11, 2012, 02:50:23 pm Just my personal theory, but I suspect the reason is that farmers are getting the full point for them so the knights should too.
