Title: Hello from Christchurch, New Zealand
Post by: Captain Pedantic on January 26, 2012, 03:42:10 am
Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a few weeks now so I thought it was time to introduce myself, and then maybe join in with some of the conversations.

I've been playing carcassonne for about 3 years now and have all bar one of the RGG expansions and the 10th anniversary box, as completest as I am I just can't bring myself to buy Catapult...

Normally I play with my two sons but today I played some Mega-Carcassonne with just one son. It took 3 hours I got 823 and he got 811. 402 tiles.
We played: Original base set, 10th Anniversary, Wheel of Fortune, Phantom, River 1 and 2, Festival, Cult, Siege, Inns and Cathedrals, Tower, Princess and the Dragon, Games quarterly, Abbey and the Mayor, King, Traders and Builders, and Bridges Castles and bazaars. While I have Count we don't really enjoy it so didn't play it.

What is interesting is that while playing we never used the castles (kept forgetting as only played once and not used to it.) and only one tower piece was used.
Twice while I was working on 20+ cities to take largest city, both times my son put on a tile that took the respective city to the end of the table and thus I could not complete them.

I've printed off onto a transparent A4 label watermarks for all the sets that don't have them, makes it so much easier to put away into their tuck boxes.
I store the tiles in the box my first base set came with and all the meeples go into the 10th anniversary box, but this year I hope to take a woodworking course and make a good storage box for them all (just have to plan it for all the future expansions)

We usually start with river 1 and drop the starting tile for River 2 into the bag so at some point a new river springs up.

I've just ordered the School, meeple stickers and 5 sheets of blank tiles from HiG website and I'm looking forward to printing off some of the expansions from here. Not sure if I want forests, mountains or the fishermen first. Interesting they will only allow you to buy 5 sheets (72 tiles) from HiG at a time.

I have a few questions about some things so will try and find the appropriate thread to ask them in.

Welcome to the site!

Did somebody post a file with watermark images that I didn't see?

Heh, welcome to the site! Sounds like you're my kind of player! I enjoy mega-carc too!
Nice close score there for a 3 hour game.

You should try the Counting House variant. You can find it at the link below.

I found it in a search of the forum it is here.

They are black so I just opened them in Mspaint and changed colour as appropriate and saved them as a new file

But it does not have them all so I used a font that looks like the Carcassonne font and printed C for the base set and 10 for the anniversary set 1/4 for quarterly etc.
The font is here:
