Title: Standalone or Expansion
Post by: Nphibbbs on January 24, 2012, 05:54:24 pm
Hi

Is there a standalone AND/OR expansion (in one) that you can play with carcassonne? or is it one or the other?

Thanks

Nick

Carcassonne: Wheel of Fortune includes a different selection of tiles than the Carcassonne base game. It also includes its own scoreboard (with a crown on it) and five sets of meeples in the normal colors. It is completely compatible with the base game but includes an extra mini-expansion. It also has wheel symbols on all the tiles, in case you decide to get the original game as well.

I guess the 10-year edition would technically count as well.

I'm excited; I ordered wheel of fortune from an ebayshop, which makes my collection nearly complete. I might persuade myself now to get the catapult expansion which up until now i wasn't much interested in.

* Are there tiles in catapult that aren't available in any other expansion, apart from the possible watermark?

The catapult tiles have special artwork. So you won't be able to find these tiles anywhere else.

it's been so long since I broke out the Catapult, I forgot how nice the road tiles were! Thanks Sekim for sharing

There is indeed.  Joff and Scott created an expansion called The Jester and the Minstrel for use with the Catapult tiles.  I uses two unique meeples instead of the stuff that comes with the regular expansion.  It's available in the downloads section.

Cool, found it. Also found Carcking's The catapult catch in variants section still. Have it all printed out for a good read and the catapult expansion is already on its way to me  :)

If you don't have the festival expansion, you could always use the fairground tiles (quite appropriate, actually) for that...

That never occurred to me.  That's a great idea.  Now that you mention it though, I think I remember someone saying they use them for JPutt's Fortune Teller expansion.
