Title: D-Day Dice Post by: Joff on November 17, 2011, 07:46:51 am Another Kickstarter project that I am supporting is D-Day Dice. And it's another incredible KS deal. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1325766284/d-day-dice-board-game (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1325766284/d-day-dice-board-game)
A pledge for the game at the $35 level includes the following: 1 copy of D-Day Dice 1 set of D-Day Dice Pouches 1 Distinguished Service Pack Your name will be listed in the rulebook as an 'ENLISTED' donator 1 copy of D-Day Dice: Badges expansion ($40K)* 2 bonus Kickstarter cards (K-Gun item; Pledge Ribbon award) ($45K)* 4 MGF dice ($50K)* 2 extra Battle Maps ($60K)* 2 bonus Kickstarter cards (The Supporter specialist; The Victory Ribbon award) ($70K)* 1 D-Day Dice carry bag ($76,079)* 1 base game Tin Box (you also receive the base game cardboard box) ($85K)* 6 special 'speckled' RWB dice (2 red, 2 white, 2 blue) ($100K)* 2 bonus Kickstarter cards (The Campaign Ribbon award; The K-Rations item) ($105,399)* 18 special 'speckled' RWB dice (6 red, 6 white, 6 blue) (completing a full set along with the $100K reward) ($115K)* 1 Legendary Supporter resource card ($140K and Final)* At the next level of support ($50) the package includes the Atlantikwall expansion, which allows another player to play the Germans. But the interesting thing with the game is with the 'Line for Life' pledges. These have proved to be really popular. The 'Line for Life' pledges are like subscriptions, where you pledge once and receive everything that will ever be released for the game. Currently 'Line for Life' pledges are available for $140 (1x) and a group 'Line for Life' for $450 (4x). Included in a 'Line for Life' pledge is: 1 copy of D-Day Dice 1 set of D-Day Dice Pouches 1 Distinguished Service Pack 1 copy of the Atlantikwall expansion 1 copy of the Gott Mit Uns expansion 1 copy of the Normandy expansion 1 copy of the Operation Neptune expansion An exclusive card SIGNED by the designer Your name will be listed in the rulebook as a 'FIELD MARSHAL' donator 1 copy of D-Day Dice: Badges expansion ($40K)* 2 bonus Kickstarter cards (K-Gun item; Pledge Ribbon award) ($45K)* 4 MGF dice ($50K)* 2 extra Battle Maps ($60K)* 2 bonus Kickstarter cards (The Supporter specialist; The Victory Ribbon award) ($70K)* 1 D-Day Dice carry bag ($76,079)* 1 base game Tin Box (you also receive the base game cardboard box) ($85K)* 6 special 'speckled' RWB dice (2 red, 2 white, 2 blue) ($100K)* 2 bonus Kickstarter cards (The Campaign Ribbon award; The K-Rations item) ($105,399)* 18 special 'speckled' RWB dice (6 red, 6 white, 6 blue) (completing a full set along with the $100K reward) ($115K)* 1 Legendary Supporter resource card ($140K and Final)* Plus EVERYTHING that will ever be released in future for the game (and there are quite a few expansions planned already). A pledge for the 4x 'Line for Life' gives you four times the amount of the above. This is a great way to get in with a group and obtain the best possible price. I have purchased a 'Line for Life' in a group of 4. There is also a 'very special' stretch reward if the project becomes the highest funded KS game project to date - Also, there is a free PnP version (and a VASSAL version) if you want to try before you buy. See the BGG page: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/101785/d-day-dice (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/101785/d-day-dice) *These are the 'Stretch' rewards included in all levels of support ($ figures in brackets denote the funding level that the reward was offered at). Edit: To add the Stretch Rewards Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Bixby on November 17, 2011, 08:19:17 am I managed to get in the first "Line for Life" group for $100. I think this is a great Kickstarter project. It certainly has exceeded funding targets.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: CKorfmann on November 17, 2011, 10:25:02 am I want to like this game, I'm just not much for the war genre.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on November 17, 2011, 03:29:37 pm I read this thread a few minutes ago, looked all the samples, and decided that I didn't care about this game. I finished eating my lunch, went back to work, and started thinking about the game again. The words "Line for Life" were haunting me. Then I broke down and pledged $140. :'( I like the co-op aspect of the game.
Joff, I'm holding you personally responsible. ;D Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Whaleyland on November 17, 2011, 06:59:34 pm I am really dying to support this game too. The deals, the extra components. Everything sounds so awesome. Plus I've always wanted to join a kickstarter program. Too bad I don't have any money right now and my wife doesn't really like World War II stuff. Still, this game is driving me mad!
If I can, I'm going to pledge at least the minimum amount by December 9th. It may be tough, but I'll try. Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Ulstergeki on November 17, 2011, 07:30:22 pm I am pledging next paycheck! this looks exciting
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on November 24, 2011, 02:37:07 pm When I saw this in my e-mail this morning, I forgave Joff for getting me into this:
(http://valleygames.ca/wp-content/uploads/Bag-Final-EA.jpg) The amount of extras for this game is ridiculously awesome. This game is already past $80k and the next reward is coming at $85k. Apparently the record for most funding is $106k. Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Ulstergeki on November 25, 2011, 12:06:41 am I have pledged, the sheer amount of bonuses are i think the game looks really fun, i hope to be able to play this very soon
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on November 27, 2011, 08:52:54 pm The $85k milestone has been reached and the reward is... a tin storage box. I think the bag from the last reward made me expect the rewards would get progressively more awesome, but deep down I know that isn't realistic. We'll see what happens at $100k.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Joff on November 28, 2011, 03:38:59 am It is an absolutely amazing KS offer!
Even if you don't plan on getting any expansions, pledging just $35 gets you a ton of cool stuff! Whaley, as you are an M44 fan, you don't want to miss out on this! Even if they never make another expansion after the ones already announced, my 'Line for Life' has already paid for itself with the extras I am getting. Really pleased to be a supporter. Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Whaleyland on November 28, 2011, 11:04:03 am Free tin and bag? Ugh. Pledging $35. I can't afford more. But I also can't afford not to pledge at least the minimum. I want dem promo items!!!
Update: Double UGH! I just upped my pledge to $50 so I could get the Atlantic Wall campaign set. Why do I continue to do this?! I justified it as my personal gain from a work bonus, but I couldn't afford the $35 to begin with and now here I am upping the pledge. I wish I could afford the $75 for the triple expansion set but I'll have to wait to get those. Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on December 02, 2011, 02:05:16 pm The $100k reward is a new set of dice with a speckled background. I thought they already had a speckled background to begin with...
The next reward should be announced today or tomorrow because D-Day Dice has broken the record for most funding in the Games category. Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Whaleyland on December 02, 2011, 03:08:54 pm Some of the dice did, but not the Red, White and Blue main gameplay dice. Now you will have a matching set.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: joshgambit on December 03, 2011, 03:46:31 pm It's (ATM) over $111,000. Of $13,000 pledged. Completely killed the last stretch of $105,398 and coming up on making the Games Category #5 overall ($116,272). Totally worth it; and I am anxiously awaiting it!! Few months to wait.... Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on December 05, 2011, 02:28:22 pm Apparently the $105,398 reward is two bonus cards, but there hasn't been any detail about that yet. There is another reward at $115k which is yet to be announced. It's now over $119k and the final reward will be at $130k. There's 3 days left, which just might be doable.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on December 07, 2011, 07:12:37 pm The $115k reward has been announced: instead of just one set of six speckled dice for the owner, all 4 sets will be speckled (non-speckled dice will still be included).
Over $140k has been pledged as of right now, so the final reward should be announced in the next few days. There are just 28 hours left to get in on this; deadline is Friday at 12:30 AM Eastern Time. I suspect the final reward will be another set of speckled dice for the German player, or speckled MGF dice, or maybe speckled versions of the regular six-sided dice. Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on December 09, 2011, 09:54:10 am This project is now closed; the final pledge total is $171,805. I read someone's estimate that this is possibly the 16th most funded project on Kickstarter across all categories.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Carcking on December 09, 2011, 03:22:34 pm I wish because of the great opportunity this presented that my group was more into war games. This would just never get played in my group even though I would love it. I couldn't justify pledging on this one. I can't wait to hear the reviews though.
Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on December 16, 2011, 01:17:35 am The final reward ended up being fairly lame: a "Legendary Supporter" resource card, and extra copies of the Distinguished Service Pack and K-Pack. Supporters of all levels get these already, so the only way to "get rid of them" will be to sell/give them to people who buy the game in 2013 because they didn't get in on Kickstarter.
Quote We worked on a lot of ideas for that final reward. The pressure was on, and topping the other gifts was really hard. A few days ago, we had what we thought was the greatest idea ever, and just before we could announce it, the deal fell through. (Don't worry, though, the idea is not lost as we are already planning next year's rewards, so we won't be caught off-guard again). The problem is that we can't afford to spend weeks to find the perfect reward that will please everyone, as we are busy putting the finishing touches on the game and its expansions (we have added a token sheet for the base game, some optional rules here and there, and we are tweaking various aspects of the production, like the "recipes" for the speckled dice). I find it interesting that they are planning additional rewards for next year, even though this was supposed to be the last one. Some people were asking for an organizer tray, others were asking for card sleeves, and I still think they should be doing more speckled dice to complete the set. Maybe we'll get all of these things? Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: joshgambit on December 16, 2011, 08:03:56 am I was somewhat disappointed in the final reward also. But I'm still VERY pleased/surprised at all the bonuses we're getting. If I decide to purchase another copy (as a gift), the extra add-ons will come in handy.
I'm not sure why they're saying "rewards". Are they planning another Kickstarter program? Or is it stuff they'll send out for the L4L people?? Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Joff on December 21, 2011, 02:06:04 am They are planning another Kickstarter for the D-Day Dice expansions, so those who missed out can get some more goodies. They are thinking of adding a level for those that have already supported at a 'Line for Life' level, so they too can get hold of the new rewards.
Also look out for the Kickstarter of Airborne in my Pocket, by the same designer, which also looks a promising WWII game. I'll be in the queue for that one too! Title: Re: D-Day Dice Post by: Scott on February 14, 2012, 01:33:15 pm Not sure why this wasn't posted on Kickstarter, but on the company's blog they posted pictures of the exclusive tin a few weeks ago.
