Title: Solazy's Walls Post by: CKorfmann on February 15, 2011, 11:22:18 pm While we're on a Solazy kick, or I guess I should say "I", I've always really liked the walls he made too. There are 7 tiles in the set (possibly 8 if you include the one tile city) that include walls. In order to make them functional, there would probably have to be 24-30 of them. Otherwise, it would simply stretch out the wall before the field would just go around it anyway. It might still be difficult to make it work right regardless. We started this discussion and it became Gwommy's Barriers and City Walls. I'd like to pursue this the way it is though if possible. I've been very drawn to the diagonal flow of these tiles. It would likely need a playtest very early to determine viability.
As before, the original is HERE (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/files/boardgame/all?username=solazy). Title: Re: Solazy's Walls Post by: Talisinbear on February 15, 2011, 11:35:44 pm I agree you'd need a bunch to make it work, and potentially some city sections anchoring a wall at one end etc
Hedgerows would work too But would they score in some way? Or just break up farms? Title: Re: Solazy's Walls Post by: Boondocker on February 16, 2011, 07:23:25 am Probably just to break up farms.
Just spitballing here, but would they work better as replacement tiles? That is, if you want to play with this expansion, you take tiles A through H out of the base game, increasing the likelihood of drawing a wall without increasing the number of tiles overall? Title: Re: Solazy's Walls Post by: Talisinbear on February 16, 2011, 09:10:05 am That is always an issue since many play much larger games and then a 2-6 tile expansion has less impact and is more asthetics
Title: Re: Solazy's Walls Post by: CKorfmann on February 16, 2011, 04:06:37 pm Yeah, the basic principle here is to break up farms. These would not be scoring features. You could certainly choose to substitute these for some tiles, but it wouldn't be necessary especially if you're interested in larger games.
