Title: Tile Printing
Post by: MrBlu on February 06, 2011, 06:25:44 pm
I guess I have two questions.  Easy one first:

Once you have the stickers printed and on the tiles, what kind of spray coating do people recommend for protection and/or shine?

Now the fun one.  I printed three sheets tonight.  I printed the extra tiles for Wheel of Fortune, the Wells sheet, and the Wishing Wells sheet.  I have all of the PDF's saved.  I had them all at 100% viewing.  The WoF tiles are "ok".  I think they could have stood to be about a smidge wider, maybe a millimeter if that.  BUT, both the Wells sheets, the tiles were way too small, like I'd say at least a quarter of an inch on two sides.  The loss of the two sticker sheets isn't that bad, but how do I fix this?  I assumed (perhaps ignorantly), that viewing at 100% would be what I needed to do.  I'm not even sure if the viewing % alters the how it prints though.  What's the best way to make sure the tiles actually print the right size?

draw a pic box on yoursize. program the size of a tile 1.75 inches I seem to recall and lay over the image to ensure correct

I spray mine with high gloss spray.  Mine still look kinda dull compared to the others, but I think the only way to make them look authentic is probably use photo paper, not sure.

Wish I could answer the real question, but I can't, sorry.  I always print mine out on regular paper in black and white until I get the settings right.  The tile width is 42mm.  Hope that helps a little.

No, viewing at 100% or changing the view zoom will not make a scrap of difference to how the tiles print. Check your printer settings. I imagine that you are not printing at 100%. Uncheck any 'Scale to fit' box and check for a 'Print at' setting. Adjust to 100% as necessary.
When this is done, print a test page. If all goes well the tiles will probably be perfect, if not, go back to the printer settings and adjust in small increments until a test printing is the correct size.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!!!  I had to play with it for awhile, but I finally figured out a way.  It was showing me the zoom % of what it was printing and I finally figured out how to manipulate it.  Sweet!!!!  Thanks so much!
