Title: Polish rules for fan-made expansions Post by: morris on February 03, 2011, 01:55:16 am Hello,
I'm quite new to Carcassonne, so it was just recently that I discovered the Carcassonne Central and fan-made expansions. I downloaded and printed a bunch of them (300+ tiles already done, 200+ to do). I'm playing with my wife and son, and wanted to translate the rules to make it easier for them to understand. I already did a few translations ("Kings Orders" - both rules and cards, "Natural disasters", "Goldmines", "Mountains", "Family feud", "Forests") and was wondering if you are interested in it (the language is Polish). EDIT: I've placed the files to MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?f=7IS70ZL2 (http://www.megaupload.com/?f=7IS70ZL2) Title: Re: Other languages Post by: Tobias on February 03, 2011, 04:39:39 am Hello, I'm quite new to Carcassonne, so it was just recently that I discovered the Carcassonne Central and fan-made expansions. I am interested. Not that I know any Polish, but other languages are always good! They are needed by some and they help work against anglocentrism ;) Title: Re: Other languages Post by: CKorfmann on February 03, 2011, 03:00:49 pm I downloaded and printed a bunch of them (300+ tiles already done, 200+ to do). Wow! 300 done already? How long have you been working on them? If you've got any pictures, we'd love to see them.An alternate language page on the site would be an interesting addition. It would be a lot of work though. Title: Re: Other languages Post by: Tobias on February 03, 2011, 04:06:00 pm An alternate language page on the site would be an interesting addition. It would be a lot of work though. It does not need to be a special page. It would be nice if every language could be used everywhere by anyone. Title: Re: Other languages Post by: morris on February 03, 2011, 04:58:25 pm I do not know exactly, a few days. I mean the tiles only. I was making about 40 tiles per day (well, per evening, to be exact). The most frustrating fact is that the tiles are not perfect - I cut them myself out of Kassett folders from IKEA (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10168254) - 101 tiles out of one folder :). I'll make some photos and place them somewhere for you to take a look.
As to an alternate language page - that was not what I had in mind, and that's a big project, just as you said. I was thinking of a simple download sub-page with various translations of the rules. I uploaded my translations here: 1. I have not translated the "Acknowledgements" sections With your permission, I'll keep on uploading my translations this way and notify the community in this thread until you decide about hosting them (or not). EDIT: moved files to new place, see the first post in this thread Title: Re: Other languages Post by: CKorfmann on February 03, 2011, 06:18:26 pm Yeah man, go for it! The appropriate place to post those pictures would be The Workshop > Crafters Guild.
Title: Re: Other languages Post by: morris on February 21, 2011, 02:10:17 am Hello,
Some new translations from me: It includes the rules for the following fan-made extensions: Forests Forest fire Drought and Pestilence High Places Wells More will come :) EDIT: moved files to new place, see the first post in this thread Title: Re: Other languages Post by: morris on March 08, 2011, 03:20:19 pm As noted in some messages in this thread, I've moved the files to MegaUpload. See the starting post for the new address.
I also did some changes to the files. First of all, I've decided to use the recommended fonts. As they did not have Polish letters, I took FontForge and did what had to be done :) Second change is a word change. Originally I used a wrong word for "pennant", so I had to correct that. This change affects the "Family Feud" rules and some of "King's Orders" cards. No new translation this time. Title: Re: Other languages Post by: loganmann1 on March 09, 2011, 07:59:39 am I might recommend changing the title of your thread to something more like "Polish Rules for Fan Made Expansions" or something like that. That will make it easier for others to find your fantastic efforts and they'll have a better chance of being put to use.
Nothing has really been updated on the download page for awhile but once that piece gets running again perhaps we can get these added somehow to the various fan expansions they correspond to. Great efforts here! |
