Title: Scoring for cloisters, roads and cities upon placing last tile then follower Post by: Bpos on July 05, 2010, 04:24:43 pm I’m new to the world of Carc, and loving it I might add, but want some clarification on what are probably basic rules and strategies to experienced players.
In the rule booklet under “Playing the game” point 3 states, “If, by placing the land tile, cloisters, roads, or cities are completed, they are now scored”. It’s obvious that if the completion of any of the three occurs upon placement of the last tile and there is already occupancy by a follower that person gets the points (majority rule applies). However, if placing the tile completes, for example a road of five tiles, then the player who placed the road tile places a thief on the completed road within that turn, does that player then win the five points, and therefore immediately take back the follower and return it to their supply? Or must that follower have to be in position before the last tile completes the cloister, road or city? I might be asking some really basic concepts to the game here but feel the rules didn’t quite cover these strategies adequately. Another question about roads. If a road is completed and it turns out that two opposing thieves are on that road, how are the points distributed? I can’t see where that is covered in the rule book either and does the majority rule apply? If these questions are covered on this site already just direct me there and remove my post! Cheers! Whenever you lay a tile, you place a follower on it before it is scored. That way you have the option to claim the feature (assuming it is not already claimed) before it is scored. In most cases, scoring comes last unless there is a double turn or something like that. Do a search for turn order and you'll see several post and probably a few table about it. Any time a feature is completed and the majority of followers is shared, both (or all) players get all the points. A 20 point city awards each player with 20 points, they are not devided 10 and 10 or any other ratio. Hope that helps. Had a look for info on 'turn order' and 'double turns' and couldn't find anything. I guess when we get to that stage in the game we'll query any issues. However at this stage we're very 'green' compared to others judging from reading many other posts so look forward to getting into the game further. I guess the more expansion packs we introduce the more complex the game becomes. Cheers! If you have a road with two opposing thieves on it, both players score full points for the road, just as for a city. If one of the men is a "big man" then only that player scores.
