Title: TtR games
Post by: mick on September 04, 2009, 12:59:47 pm
Anyone heard anything about 1912 Europa expansion?  I've seen it advertised, but no release yet.  I was thinking about it for a friend of ours.

My wife likes TtR better than carc, and I'm the opposite.  We have USA and Switzerland, but we're looking at Nordic.  Any thoughts?

My favourite by far is TtR Europe...in fact, it's the only one I own (I've played the others on the website). Europe is pretty much just a bigger version of Switzerland (for 2-5 players as opposed to 2-3). I have yet to play Nordic, but it looks similar except for the cute snowy train cars (I wish it were available as an expansion!).

BGG has a pretty good article on 1912 Europa. It is basically an expansion for TtR Europe, but certain aspects of it expand all the base games. It includes all new tickets for Europe in a way that can be used with or without the base game's tickets. It also introduces two new concepts to Ticket to Ride which can expand all the versions. I don't know the specifics, but it looks fun. I love Ticket to Ride and Europe is by far the most advanced of the series (although Märklin is pretty close). This expansion will only make it more advanced, but that's fine with me. The game is so easy that an additions are just icing on the cake. It releases sometime in October.

We're visiting with some family for the long weekend and I gave our uncle the 1912 Europa expansion.  Looking forward to playing it this weekend.  I'll let you know how it goes.

It looks interesting, there's a review of the game on YouTube:

The 1912 Expansion is pretty good. I find the depots to be a nice change of pace, but not something that I'll use in every game. Europe needed more long route selection, so the extra routes made this game worth it for me.

Anyone have TtR for xbox?  I've got 1910 and Europe.  I'd like to play online with you.  My gamer tag is the same as this user name.
