Title: Catan expansions
Post by: CKorfmann on July 16, 2009, 12:43:14 pm
Does anyone know if there is a comprehensive site, like this one, for Catan fan-made expansions.  Also, does anyone know of a "Big Box" equivalent of all the Catan expansions together?

If not, that may be your new calling

I've been working on a CAR for a while now, but haven't produced anything yet for Seafarers of Traders & Barbarians. My thesis is kind of getting in the way of producing those two since they will take a little more work (Seafarers because I want to integrate the 3rd edition rules into the document, T&B because I want to integrate the combination documents from Catan.com). The Settlers CARA and Cities & Knights CARA are files currently on their respective pages on BoardGameGeek. There is no Catan Big Box, although there should be one since they have four official expansions now + accompanying 5-6 player expansions.

There is also no CatanCentral or the equivalent, although I have various World of Catan beta wiki sites up that I was originally planning to turn into something similar. In fact, I even grabbed the SimpleMachines Forum engine and installed it at Whaleyland.com only to have it fail because my free GoDaddy hosting account won't support it. Obviously I need to get something more official for that, but that costs money which I don't have at the moment.

In other words, no Catan Big Box and no CatanCentral, but both have been envisioned already. I'd love to get a forum up and running for an English Catan fan site for hosting new expansions, but I personally can't work on that until October at earliest as it would just take too much time.

Well, three plus the base game. Sometimes it's just easier to call the base game an expansion.
